Methadone Withdrawal Symptoms

I have been on methadone for 2 years and have been coming off for about a year now.  The highest milligram that I have been on is 20 but due to smoking marijuana they would not let me come down off the methadone.  I finally stopped smoking and am now down to 4 milligrams of methadone but want to leave.  Will the withdrawal symptoms be bad and what are they?

I was on methadone for 2 years and am now on day 18 of quitting. There is so much great info and support here, see GA Guy's posts for newbies: kind of a crash course, if you will. First of all, I am sorry, but when you stop it is not fun. Beacuse you are on a low dose b4 quitting it will not be SO bad, but again, there will be restless legs, muscle pain (especialy in the thighs), chills, sweats, diarreah, sleeplessness, those were my main ones. The withdrawls last for most methadone users for appx 9 days. Then, it's better everyday. OK that's the bad news. I don;t want to scare you, but the truth of it is what it is. GOOD NEWS: it passes, and each day is better. It is not impossible. It may be scary, but I assure you, the fear of it is the worst part. Go to a Dr and tell them you want to stop and need 'Clonodine', a blood pressure med, it really supresses w/d symptoms. EVEN better news: you will have YOU back. You know what I mean, the MTD takes that from you and your in that HAZE. It all comes back. The pain is so worth the feeling you have when your body and mind wake up again. Tastes, smells, feelings, it is indescribable. Again, I don't mean to scare you, but know that it is doable! Be strong, post any question you have and I and others will be happy to help in anyway possible....remember look for the "the famoud GA Guy post for newbies"...great info! Good luck and let us know how it's going!

ya methadone WD is probably the worst. lucky for you, you weren't at a terribly high dose. being ok on 4 milligrams a day is good. very good. symptoms will include: restlessness. no energy, nausia, maybe vomiting. rls. no motivation. general pain. diareaha

try going down even furthur. maybe going down by 1mg each week.

beat it.
