by bigfred4ever, Sep 11, 2008 04:52AM
Ive been on and off oxys for about 4 months around 30 to 40 mgs a day. I was off completly for a week felt ok. Started up again (pain in shoulder makes it tough to work) been taking 10 and 20 mgs of oral methadone for about two weeks.
Running out so kicked it back to 5 mgs. last two days. Took 5mgs at 5pm yesterday feel ok. I 'm just gonna take a nibble off last couple pills I have left if I start to get sick. Think I'll have any bad w/ds? .....I'm ready to quit this ********

. if ya think oxys wds were bad hold on. grit your teeth. man your just not ready yet! believe me. when your ready  the last thing you will want is a nibble of what your trying to quit.   (just makes the agony longer). when your ready through all the the garbage out. and man up or woman up deal with it . to get through this ya cant be a ***** .the other choice is keep on taking them to they take it all away from you or die} dont go to sub  i was on that felt like it save my life. then I went skiing ran out no different then the oxy wds or the methadone .. iam lucky we started to file charges against my doc. for falsely representing a controlled substance. dads a judge so his connections were great.we ended up stopping the dispersion of it in the tri county area.made the doc come on tv and tell the truth. that was worth all the money in the world .

please stop taking the methadone asap...you don't realize what your getting yourself into. I know oxys have pretty bad w/ds..but methadone is a whole new level of hell..do your self a favor and stop while you can..I can't say for sure how bad your w/ds will be but hopefully not too bad. I went c/t off methadone from 65mg..but I know people that have went c/t off as little as 10 and have had pretty bad w/ds..and for everyone it seemed they generally last for about 6 weeks..feel free to pm me if you'd like..there are a few of us that have had the unfortunate experience with that poison...run while you can...

Throw that methadone in the trash. You're going to open up a whole new can of worms if you don't.I went c/t off of 25 mgs and I wouldn't wish that hell on my worst enemy. The longer you take it the harder it's going to be to break free of it.You don't need that poison, you can do this without it..I wish you all the best.Keep posting....

I'm not sure whats wrong with your shoulder but you should try taking a product called osteo-biflex..it's available at any drug store. I know that shoulder pain sux..i had to have extensive rotor cuff surgery..also physical therapy can help..have you tried getting cortisone shots? Please believe us when we tell you this....Get rid of that methadone now, you will regret it and methadone w/d is one of the worst if not THE worst w/d there is..you haven't been taking it long so the w/d shouldn't be full blown..

Lucky for you, you have only been taking methadone at a low dose for two weeks, so you may be ok? If this were me, I wouldnt take anymore at all, get off of it before your body adjusts to it to much, as the withdrawals from methadone are way longer versus oxys, trust me I know, I have had withdrawals off both these drugs & I can attest to the fact that while oxy withdrawals made me feel physically ill for about 4 days, methadone withdrawals are much more lengthy & make ya feel as if your losing your mind. Ditto.  if you read my post i am 22 days clean of methadone and still feeling it.  i came off of 30-40mgs a day for over a year.  if it has been 2 weeks for you it may not be so bad, but stop while you still can!

Well I have to disagree..methadone has changed my life for the better. That is as long as I have it.....I know I will never stop taking it because of chronic  pain but you can detox off of it I have seen it done a couple of times..the answer is very slowly...very slow...very!
as all opiates should be detoxed from....that is why the relapse back to the pills are so frequent is because we just stop and put ourselves thru hell and pain and misery and crawls and climb the walls, and cry, and think we gonna die... out of all that I know what I'd choose! Different strokes for diff....yaddi yaddi yaddi
But you have choices....not just cold turkey...gobble gobble!!

I am sorry but i will disagree that having to have your daily dose of methadone to feel normal is quality of life..as for pain..well some people need to take it for life..and as long as your settled to take it for life than thats great..but the majority does not want to be on it for life. Unless you ever detoxed off methadone than you can't possibly know whats it's like. Seeing someone detox off it a "couple " of times is hardley enough info to have any knowledge of it..sorry.I know 100's that have suffered,, If you read the original posters post...He doesn't want to be on it for life...so if you just wanted to sing methadones praises..this isn't the post to do so...I'm glad it works for you..since you plan on staying on it you have no worries...and yes there is choices...
