Methadone detox....7 days!!!

After over a 10 year battle, this is the longest I have been clean by MY choice!!! And it feels great to know how powerful I can be against this powerful drug Methadone. I am still fighting the energy crash, but there are things I do that I find keep my mind at ease. This is HUGE & I almost can't believe it :) I found this site a year ago, and it has helped tremendously, the advice, inspiration....I am a happy camper :) Day 8...BRING IT!!

Well you go jenrob!! lol I'm ok! Still just hating the energy crash. Blllaaaahhhhh...totally no motivation! At least I'm getting some sleep at night! I read that some people feel dead by 3 oclock, but mines the opposite, I feel like I gain some energy in the evening when the sun is going down- weird! Maybe its this dam southern HEAT! Or it could be after taking supplements all day lol. So yea, getting my day started is the toughest. But i'm making it! Eating normal, just very low on energy, and I know it'll come back eventually :)

Thanks a million! You were right, the energy crash ***** a bit, and some nights my sleep is a bit scattered, may loose an hour or 2 here or there, but nothing that gives me that "death" feel the next day, I mean Im pretty sure the energy crash is from the pills, not lack of sleep. I took the same sleep supplements over the last year that I have this last week, except added maybe 2 things. I was down a little on energy here & there through the last year, but I wasnt hurting bad. I just know my slow taper prepared my body for the jump. Like I said, I had some days where I didnt feel great, but I knew that was to be expected, even if I was only dropping .5 mg. So I guess it wasnt as hard on me when I jumped! I know I cant let my guard down, I know it will take a while to really get my energy back, and this fight is far from over, but I will prevail! I really believe the Amino Supplements are helping too!! Again, many thanks to you all!! You have no idea how much it has helped me!! Good luck fixing your truck, its sooooo HOT outside here in New Orleans, I cant imagine where you are is any better ;) I will keep fighting this till the end!! Julie

@tinababe- THANKS so much!!

hey Julie.......your coming out of this remarkably well for 1 I cant believe your sleeping
heres a million dollar idea for ya....package up what is working and sell it on the internet
for sleep aid specifically for withdrawals......your the only one I know that has not complained about sleep....come to think about it you havent complained about anything other then mentioning the energy crash your doing fabulous ......a good part of this was due to your intensive preparation and mainly an attitude that totally rocked  just remember your coming off a powerful drug ....dont push yourself to hard this stuff is really cyclic and if you over do it you will feel it for a few days it sorta comes back out of know where but I think you just may break the M/H house record getting well so fare it stands at 60 days and your already miles ahead of anyone I know that has done this...so keep it up dont get discouraged by a down day here or there keep that win win attitude up and I think you got this beat the next thing will talk about will be aftercare this is a critical part of recovery ......I was amassed after 6 1/2 yrs on the stuff that one morning out of the blue I woke up and was craving pills again....16 1/2 yrs on the crap and even after methadone it was still an issue so dont skip the aftercare EVERYONE NEEDS IT anyway im off to fix my truck hope to here from you soon good luck with your recovery remember you get out of it what you put into it for a lot of people an hr a week makes all the difference ....Gnarly

Well personally, I have been on the 10 mg pills & using a pill cutter, tapering verrrrrryyyy slow since last summer (I tried to jump off 20 mg, 2nd day in I couldnt take it, so I got back on 15mg) , from 15 mg down to 2 mg over this last year, then I jumped a week ago 2day. Through the taper, there was a little discomfort here & there, then my body would adjust. I also took the last year to read these post and do a lil research & I did aquire EVERYTHING on the Amino Acid Protocol & the Thomas recipe. Also a few xtras, potassium, cal mag zinc some natural sleep aids-valerian root, passion flower, melatonin, Hylands calms forte....I tell ya, I know the hurt from going cold turkey, so I did it as best I could to make it hurt less & after 8 YEARS on methadone this last week was SO not what I expected! I was in he!! jumping off of 20 mg last summer, this was nothing compared to that! The anxiousness was light, not too many cold sweats, besides the energy crash, I am actually functional & have been for the last week. I kept waiting for it to get bad, but it hasnt! True, I have my "moody" moments, but I can deal with that! I do have loose stools still, but immodium helps, my appetite through the 7 days hasnt really  gone away, as I have been eating pretty regularly. I hope this helps you in some way! I am still in shock that I am taking this so well after all these years, coming form someone who was on over 100 mg at one time (back during hurricane katrina) I guess I keep waiting for it to get worse, but I think I am over that threshold! I think the 4th day I was the most irritated, but I felt good enough to do stuff to take my mind off of it. Oh also drink protein shakes!!

And thanks @tryingtocope!!
