"" how bad are my withdrawls going to be?What should i expect??""

it depends on how much methadone you will be using, and what dose you take during your taper
i suggest you say no to the methadone and if you insist on using an opiate during detox, look into short acting opiate like darvocet, maybe clonidine, and immodium
darvocet wd is minimal, methadone wd is a monstor

How long were you abusing the roxy's and how much were you up to a day? How much methadone are you taking and are you planning on doing a fast five day taper with it? To be honest I agree with TysonRed.I don't think it's such a good idea adding another drug into the mix, especially the methadone. If you are wanting to taper you are better off tapering with the roxy's and ditching the methadone. No matter what you decide to do we're here for you so keep posting.Good luck...YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!    Kim

If you start taking methadone your still feeding your body opiates so you wont go into withdrawal at all. All you will be doing is delaying the w/d's, if not making them worse in the process. Another thing is methadone is a lot stronger opiate than the roxicodone or anyother opiate for that matter, its has a very long half life of 37.5hrs which makes the w/d's from it last very long. Now with your roxy's there short acting opiates so the w/d's will probably last anywhere from 7-14days, maybe a little less, maybe a little more. With methadone w/d's can literally last months, most last about a month but some last up to 90 days and takes even longer to get over the mental issues than accompany methadone. Im telling you from experience do not mess with methadone, when I was using opiates I never had too much of a problem getting off of them with the exception of a large oxycontin detox, I was taking 320-480mgs/day for over a year, I blew tons of money and nearly killed myself. After that was the first time I got on to a methadone maintenance program, worse decision I ever made, it became the worst addiction Ive ever experienced and Ive had my share. I got clean 3 times of methadone but always ended up relapsing back on to it and it progressively got worse. This last go around I was at my highest sustained dose of 150mgs/daily for almost 2yrs before I decided I needed to get my life together. I was just planning on doing it the way I had always done it by tapering down as low as I could and quitting, but this time the addiction specialist I was seeing recommended I see his boss who could start me suboxone when I got my dose down to 30mgs of methadone. Now looking back still dont know if it was the "right" choice, but I stayed on sub for 5months and eventually made it off last October. Now the physical part of w/d's werent as intense as meth/oxycontin but it was no cake walk. The main problem for me was the lingering mental problems like severe depression, anxiety, not being able to sleep and still to this day cravings all the time. So all in all I have to say it worked but its for sure not for everyone, it can become a problem in itself, I became just as addicted to sub as any other opiate. Anyways sorry for rambling and getting off the subject, but dont start with the methadone, if you already have stop now and just tough it out, I promise you taking the methadone will only compound the problem, in no way will it lessen the w/d's that you will eventually have to face. If you can get into a doctor, preferably an addiciton specialist they can give you clonidine that can help a little and some will write you short script for valium or another benzo. If your going at this alone without a doctors help you should read the health pages about the thomas recipe and amino acid protocol, also any other info that you can find to help you out. Let us know how things go, theres is alot of support and information here that can help you through this process. Please take this seriously, the roxy's w/d's I know are no fun, but methadone added into the mix is just another beast that you wont no part of. Keep posting and let us know what you decide to do. I wish you the best of luck and if you have any questions that I can help you with feel free to message me or just post it up on the forum. Good luck and Take Care. You can do this!!!

I don't think starting on methadone was the thing to do, you should NEVER take that drug under any circumstance, I know, I have been addicted to it for over 10 years now.  It is my opinion that the withdrawal from roxicodone would have been better than the one from methadone, I hope I'm wrong for your sake.  Maybe just being on it for 5 days won't be a big deal, for sure start tapering, I know that.  Good luck.
