Methadone prescribing question

I have a question that I have always wondered about Methadone, but never wanted to ask a Dr. LOL. I understand that it comes in pill form and liquid form. What is the difference between the prescribing of it? Such as, why would a Dr. prescribe you the pill form instead of the liquid form, or why would they prescribe the liquid instead of the pill? I understand Hydrocodone comes the same way. I know they prescribe it in liquid form, the actual name is Hycet, and then you have the regular pill form.

musicman, are you on the done?Ana nicole's quack doc gave her a script for the jug of methadone that was enough for all the addicts in a clinic for the morning doses. How could they expect someone like her to take it right? I hope he looses his license."Methadone, there's no future in it"

i think cause alot of people goin to clincs ect are taking 40 mgs on up of it some people 100 200 mgs a day that would be 4 huge waffer pills a day also alot of clincs dont tell you how many mgs your on if you ask so you dont go and sell  instead of sittin there taking 16 10 mg pills in one sittin you can just sit there and slam a bottle

Thank you! I have wondered about that, but how in the hell did Anna Nicole Smith get a HUGE bottle of liquid Methadone if it has to be done in a clinic setting? I remember the picture of her refridgerator with the big bottle of liquid methadone in it, it was all over the media, news, ect.

They use methadone in liquid forum mainly in clinic/rehab settings, pill form for pain management.  In some clincs its easier to do a "blind dosing" if its liquid so that the patient dosen't know how much they are getting.
Regular doctors are not allowed to prescribe methadone for addiction, only pain management, for addiction it must be done in a clinic setting.

Liquid lortab is often given to people after a tonsillectomy or some procedure that makes pills difficult to swallow...some of the elderly have feeding tubes in their tummy and the liquid is easier to put in the tube than crushing pills...as far as the methadone, my son worked in a clinic and they gave the liquid...it is also easier to do different doses as measuring liquid is easier than trying to cut pills...but I am not sure exactly why the clinic uses liquid...and perhaps some clinics use pills in other areas...also they watch them swallow it before they leave until they hit a certain point of sobriety then they can get their doses weekly...most patients who take methadone for pain take the pill form...it is used in clinics for opiate WD as u can be dosed daily with it as it has such a long half life...which also makes it the dickens to get off of
