Methadone question

Hello, sorry to repost but I asked this question on another thread that I started (with a different title) and I dont think anyone read it, so I am re-asking. How long after (people that used methadone) taking your last pill did you start to feel w/d's? I stopped vicoden 2 weeks ago, and sense had been taking methadone to help with w/d's (5-10 mgs a day). But its been over 48 hours and I still feel fine, no chills or hot flashes like after quitting vicoden cold turkey. Does this mean I am in the clear (well phsycally anyway, I do still feel VERY tired) I have no desire to get more methadone as I didnt even like it, just got it to help me through the w/d's and I want to be DONE with it all!! So my question is how long after you took your last methadone did you start having w/d's?

Well, usually it should be between 24-36 hrs after. I know methadone has a strong half life, so it builds up and stays in your system. If you feel good then maybe you are gonna be ok. 48hrs you should be feeling something by now. So good for you.  Vicoden is no where near as strong as methadone. So if you get by with no w.d, then someone is truly watching down on you. To kick a vike habit with methadone is odd to me since methadone is so much stronger then vicoden. But I guess it works for some. Maybe you lucked out. I would take it and run...Dont turn back to the pills. Especially if you are getting by like this. Good luck..

it really just depends on you. some people it take days others hours, depending on all long the methadone stays in your system, just remember to be strong, take it one day at a time and we are here for you. others will be online later that know more about it then me.

Hi Courtney, I used methodone to get off vicoden too I didnt really have any withdrawels from it. But it does have a long half life how much vicoden were u taking?

Hello, thank you for responding! I was taking about 12 5-500 mg vics a day and stopped about 2 weeks ago, and after  one day I got scared and my friend offered me some methadone. The feelings were so bad, chills, hot flashes, stuck on the couch pretty much I just couldnt do it without some help. I know alot of people say to not use methadone for a vic habit but I tried it because I felt hopeless and scared. How long did you use methadone for with no w/d's?

Thanks so much for responding. I appreciate the support so much. I have the best husband in the world,the only thing is that he thought I stopped months ago and it would really hurt him to find out I lied. I just want to be done with these stupid pills and have my life back! I have 3 kids, and a great life and I want to enjoy every minute of it sober without always chasing pills! ~Courtney~

methadone will slowly build up in your body the longer you take it, with it only being two weeks that youve taken it and only at 10mgs at most, you shouldnt have really any discomfort at all, the normal starting dose for methadone clinics is 30mgs and up..congrats on getting off of the hydros, try not to stay on the methadone too long, the wd's from methadone(long term use and high doses) are soo much worse than any severity of wd from heroin, oxycontin, etc. it is by far the hardest and worst opiate to withdrawal from..you should be alright btu withdrawals generally dont appear till about day 3 depending on your metabolism but most likely if you have wd;s from your methadone sue it will present itself within the next 24 hrs.-christos

Thanks for responding, I am keeping my fingers crossed that I am in the clear and going to be ok. I guess what makes me fear w/d's the most (I mean on top of the feeling itself lol) is that I have 3 kids, 2 of them very young and I am a stay at home Mother (my husband works full time) and have to be up and on the go. My husband thought I quit a long time ago, and it would hurt him to find out I had been lieing and would probably make him pretty mad too! ~Courtney~

Methadone us used to detox someone from Opiates, so you will have NO w/d from the Vicodin.  You might, however get w/d from the Methadone and those are much harger to go through.  Methadone gets into your Bone Marrow and takes a long time to exit the body.     How long have you been on the Methaone and what dosage are you on?  I would immediately start to taper off it but even with tapering, you may be uncomfortable.

Hello, I've been on 5-10 mgs for 2 weeks when I stopped the vicoden and its now been almost 72 hours sense my last methadone and I feel ok. So thats why I am wondering if this is it and I somehow slid past the nasty w/d's from methadone. But I wasnt on it that long either, but I was on vicoden for quite some time taking 12 pills a day. ~Courtney

HI Courtney, I used methadone for a month started at 15 mgs for a week and tapered weekly. I still had some w/ds from the vicoden but it wasnt as bad as it wouldve been. How are you feeling today?

Hello! I am feeling pretty good,except how tired I am! Its almost unreal, I could sleep and sleep and sleep. I have 3 kids, (7, 1 1/2 and 8 months) so I can only sleep when they do, but they all sleep through the night (thank the Lord!). My muscles hurt a little bit, but I dont have chills or hot flashes, or feel like I cant get off the couch. When does my energy come back? I'm not having BAD w/d's, so I am hoping it wont be long! ~Courtney~

Ohhh boy with the 2 little kids there is no sleeping lol. The energy takes awhile to come back. Taking vitamins helps and getting some exercise too. Drinking lots of water helps to flush out ur system too =)

Sounds like you are doing great! At this point, I'd onlu use 3mg or 3.5 mg Methadone when youbin feeling w/d ?  Sounds like you're almost done.

Does anyone remember a few years ago when MONTEL had twin sisters on who were hooked oh "H" and they put the under and they went through w/d while they were in a drug induced "coma" type sleep.  Do they not use that technique anymore to help people not suffer through all of the w/d ****?  I can not remember if they implanted a device that would make them sick if they dd the "H" or if the implant kept the urge away.

I think that would be a great way to get off, or do we need to suffer worse than dogs are treated so we do not use again?  What every happened to the meds they would give alcholics?  (SP), if you drank you would throw-up.  Except my stupid boyfriend at the time, he could drink on them all night long.  I want to say they are called "antibuse". Long time ago and can remember everything.
