Methadone to Suboxone

Methadone to Suboxone

I've been in a Methadone Maintenance program for 9 years.  I'm on my first month of taking 30mg per day.  I also take 30mg of Temazepam at night for sleep.  At the end of the month I plan on having the doctor in the program prescribe me Suboxone to get off the Methadone.  My question is this:  Is the Suboxone going to affect the Temazepam's effect?   Sleeping is a problem for me, and without the Temazapam I doubt I'd get any sleep if Suboxone stopped the Temazepam from working. Thank you for any help you may recomend.

This is something you need to discuss with your doctor or even a pharmacist could probably be able to advise you about it . Good Luck :)

yeah u are on a relatively low dose of temezepam and the best news is that you are at the cut off level for being able to switch to suboxone, you need to be on 30mgs or less of methadone to be able tos witch over otherwise bad bad wds unimaginable will occur..and the biggest thing to remember during the switch is go as low on the 'done as you can and then you have to wait at least 30-48 hours since last taking any methadone otherwise youll be put into precipitated withdrawals the worst things ever suboxone has naloxone in it which when in the system it will kick the opiate off the receptors putting u into insanely bad wds not fun to mess with, so make sure your at 30mgs or less and wait about two days and make sure your in somewhat wd usually they want moderate wd then you can switch and then its smooth sailings from there, your all good, i was on both, let me know if u need anything or have any questions?-christos

sub has not effect on blocking benzodiazepines..so sub should have no effect on ur benzo..just talk to ur doctor and be sure all is cool with ur meds...sub tends to a bit more "exhilerating" than methadone....b sure not to take sub after 4 pm or so as it can give u sleep probs if u do...let ur sub dr know all ur meds ..keep posting and best of luck to u
