your welcome. thank you for the update. yes, now that you know about his opiate use, the methadone makes perfect sense. i am glad for him that he is tapering down. if he isnt going to counseling or support groups, please encourage him to do so to prevent relapse. recovery is a marathon not a sprint and he needs to work his recovery on a daily basis.
keep the faith

Thank you very much for the feedback, he was also on several opiates as I have sence found out. He hopes to be off methadone by months end.
Thx again.
Agree with Debbie above...
He should taper off as soon as possible if he's ready. It's a tough drug to withdraw from so the sooner the better.
Why is he on Methadone for Crack? Very strange...
hello and welcome. is crack the only drug he had ever been addicted to?
the reason i ask is because methadone is used as a maintenance program for someone who has been addicted to opiates.methadone is a opiate maintenance plan and keeps a level of opiates in your system. this allows people to to function and not always be chasing their next high. it is despensed at the clinic, and is legal.
how much methadone is he currently on? has he been receivng any counseling and/or attending any support groups?
working full time and exercising is wonderful. sounds like he is doing ok.
methadone is a very hard drug to withdraw and detox from. the longer he stays on it the harder it is to get off.
you said he has been tapering, that is essential for methadone. does he plan on getting off soon? how long does one stay on it? that is a loaded question, i have seen people stay on it for decades.i dont think that was the initial plan. once on it, it is very hard to get off. i definitely would not recommend staying on it for more 6 months. you need to taper down slow. the higher the dose and the longer on it, the longer it takes to come off.
tapers can last 1 to 2 years, with these factors in mind.
has he spoken about coming off it?
