Methadone

by Addicted2Pain, Mar 28, 2008 12:43AM
For those looking for ways to quit...

I waited till I was in w/d's from roxy 30's. I was on quite a binge, and from some advice from a methadone user, I took one 10 mg methadone for approx. 3 days. That got me thru the worst of the w/d's. I quit the methadone after three days, had no w/d's and have been drug free for at least a month.

If you can force yourself to keep the methadone at a low dose, and only take one 10 mg pill a day for 3-5 days, you'll be amazed at the results. I know methadone gets a bad reputation, and they might be hard or impossible to get them, depending on if you have a source, but if you can get a few, and are serious about quitting, but are afraid of the w/d's, then I'd strongly advise giving methadone a shot. Thery are supposedly highly addictive, so be careful.

Having suffered thru w/d's many times, I can't say enough about them. I got no high from them, just felt normal and missed no work. I even managed to go do my job which is in an intense IT position and also managed to get a lot of house work done.

Just food for thought, and again, use as little as possible and for as short of a period as possible.

My only reason for posting this is that I hope I can help at least one person kick their narcotic habit.

the key words here are "IF you can FORCE yourself to keep the methadone at a low dose, and for only 3-5 days"
unfortunately this is how addicts differ from most...1 pill is never enough, and 3-5 days is never long enough, especially IF one finds out how much they may actually like methadone...
could be dangerous...
glad it worked for you...

Yep, I did that a few time & yes It worked for the withdrawals but I found it to be to easy, so I thought wow, I can just take my oxys & when I run out I,ll have a few methadone pills for my bad days, so it was just a roller-coaster, as the addiction only grew worse, & what that did for me was it made me think & feel that methadone was the key, so when I hit my bottom instead of going into rehab, I turned to a methadone clinic & here I sit 4 years later detoxing from it, but honestly this is just my personal experience with it, I cant bash your way of getting clean nor others, as I guess maybe this is what it took for me to find my path towards recovery? It is what it is. Penelope
