Coming of a constant 60 mg dose of methadone. How bad should it hurt?

No I am aiready done Ispent two weeks of  hell. And i am sleeping ok I asked because it wasent that bad. Its prety much the same I withdrawled and did drywall through it best anadote was hard work the harder i worked the better I felt the better i sleeped sounds weird. Thanks for answering

I jumped off at 25,Sadinmichigan jumped at 65 and our symptoms and recovery time were the same.Most likely the first 3 weeks are going to be real rough.It's a good idea to schedule some down time for that.By week 4 I was able to start to function a little but I was still real sore and real tired.Week 6 was the turning point,although I did still struggle with energy and sleep issues.I have about 5 1/2 months clean time now and physically I feel great.It's going to be rough but it's absolutly do-able and so worth it.It was one of the best decisions I ever made.Good luck to you and you can pm me anytime.I'll help you in any way I can.Read sadinmichigans' journal entry about methadone,theres some suggestions in there to try and help ease the w/ds.It was written by a doctor who treats people comming off of methadone....Peace...Kim

hey james, i as on and off methadone for 15 years, in 2004 i kicked for the final time, i was getting 2 weeks take home, 200mgs 14 bottles,i was averaging 300 to 400mgs a day, my detoxed was a bit complicated the last time, in the past i could go cold turkey off methadone with about 3 weeks discomfort, and i always got back on drugs because i refused 12 step meetings, now in 2004, i had serious liver problems and my bodied had become atrophied, i was rushed to icu i believe it was my second week, i had not eaten in 2 weeks throwing up green bile, seizures and then liver failure, this will not happen to you i have hep c and was on a very high dose, depending on your over-all health it may take you about 2 months acute withdrawl and a few more months for paws post acute withdrawl, please do yourself a favor and goto na meetings, ask for help, methadone  and suboxone have been the worse detox i have ever been through

I'm weaning slowly off methadone and have made it from 180mg a day to 45mg. My pain is so much better that I would say I don't need narcotics for it now.  My pain did increase for a while and it scared me a lot, but then it did go way down just as my doctor promised.

There are others here who will answer your question far better than I can, but I wanted to let you know what is happening with me.  I am seriously considering taking the leap from 45mg to zero. I did have withdrawal pain on one of my larger decreases, feeling very achy, like the worst flu of my life, but it didn't last long, and ibuprofen helped some.  You can do anything if you know it will eventually get better.

It's worth it.
