Oh sweetie, i am so sorry about your back - This just sucks!
i feel very confident that you will do fine with the meds, Maybe you can ask them to give you another kind of pain pill, a
non-narcotic one. There are so many out there that work so well for severe pain.

My mom has had MAJOR back problems for the past 3 years, she has a syatic (sciatic) (spelled wrong) nerve, in her hip and in her back. It gts to the point to where she can't even walk at times. She has had several epidural shots, the first few helped for awhile, but just recently she had to have another one, it seems to be helping so much better now. Hopefully it will help you, and you won't need the pain pills. But like i said if you do, there are so many out there non-narcotic ones. She was taking percocets, and of course she didn't like how they made her feel, (unlike me) so she asked for something else, they have tried alot of different ones for her, i can't remember what she is taking now, but it is non-narcotic and it is doing wonders for her.

Just wanted to let you know hun, there are other kinds that work GREAT...don't have to be just the ones to make you "feel good" ya know what i mean.

Don't think i am preaching to you, okay? I just know that you have made it so far to turn back now. I understand your back is killing you and something needs to be done about this.

Just a bummer to think of you starting back on those "nasty pills" again, when there are so many other ones out there that are just as good for the severe pain, the only difference is - they don't get you addicted. I really hope you consider this as an option. Hate to see you go through all you just did, just to go back to square one all over again.

I will most definately get the name of what my mom is taking now. Anything that can help her with the pain as long as it is non-narcotic would be worth a try.

I know my mom was on all kinds of different ones, until she found one that actually worked for her. She was in so much pain, and still suffers alot, she never was one to take meds until this.

Mj, i will give you some different names of some different meds that might help and be so much better for you. I will talk to my mom tomorrow, and get back to you.

Hun, just don't want to see you get back where you were again is all...There are lots of options out there, i will see what i can come up with...

Hey there sweetie, just a short message to let you know I'm thinking about you and hope so much that your back is feeling better.  

Hope - could you maybe get the name of what worked for you mom for MJ?  I know I tried 4 or 5 non-narcotics for my back before resorting to vicodin, I was really trying to not relapse after 19 plus years of recovery.  Vicodin and soma are the only things that worked, from what I tried.

I did try one non-narcotic one last week, and all it did was make me sleepy and sick to my tummy :-/  didn't do anything for my pain.

but i would still love the info.

i went to a bbq tonight whihc helped me take my mind off things, but to be honest the pain got so bad i had to leave!  i just can't be in this pain anymore...

anyway, the good news is, like i said, i'll see the new guy on monday and hopefully he can get me in for the epi ASAP - i can't imagine why it would take very long.  i spent 3 hr's today between the chiro and the acupuncturist, and honestly, tonight all i feel is worse...

in the meantime, i'll need you guys to rag me and make sure i take just what i need... honestly, right now, i just don't want to be in pain anymore...

sorry to be such a downer guys.  but there's the update.

i luv you guys... not gonna stay on to long, need to lay flat...
