Morphine pump

by Sanguinity, Apr 24, 2007 12:00AM
My neighbor has a morphine pump that the VA placed in his abdomen.  He admitted he and his son were having drug related problems w/ the pain meds.  Does anyone in here have one of these or have you heard about them?

Firstly Sangu such a thing sounds like a scarey piece of shi*.  Surely there has to be a better way?
Fishmeal I'm confused cause there seems to be two Fishmeals?  Did you post above about taking 3 to sleep and 3 pills to wake up?  Constructions wife and I were wondering if two fish or someone accessing the real Fishmeals posts what's the go? Hard to help when we are getting confused.
Luv xx

I am a disabled vet, one with cronic back leg and neck pain all from wounds recieved in the Vietnam war. For the past four years I have had my neck operated on three times, had a spinal cord stimulator placed in and its still there but does not work now they are goign ot take it out soon and want to put in a morphine pump into my back. I am already taking the morphine pills several times a day. I have two types of morphine pills, one it fast acting that I take every 4 hours the other is a 12 hour pill that releases over 12 hours so I only take two of them daily. I would love ot get some honest answers about the pump as far as addiction. Does it make the person that has it in their back addicted?  Thanks..  Ron_321

One of the options they gave me was to have a morphine pump put in after my 3rd lower back surgery. I told the Drs I was an addict (ex heroin user and opiates thru surgerys) and they said that the pump would leave me craving for more 24/7. I agreed since my doc is more. Addiction and chronic pain is downright cruel. gl
