ADDICTION: SUBSTANCE ABUSE COMMUNITY
Moving forward

Moving forward

I have been off the vicodin for a couple of weeks and used subs for the first 10 days or so.. I have not had to bad of wd's from the sub but started with less than 2 mg a day and took less and less each day from the start.  Getting off the vicodin is hard but we can do it.  Some people stay on the sub for a long time but I just didn't want that.  I will say that it did help with the initial fear of getting off the vic's I did some research and found that taking a little sub and using it for a short time and then going to AA or NA was a good way to stay clean.  Anyone out there contemplating quitting beleive me you can do it.  Read these pages and use them there is so much good info here.  YOur disease is telling you that you can't stop but you can.  I don't think there is one way to do it we all have to find our own way and then stick to the plan.  I could not taper because I am an addict.

Congrats on your clean time!! I agree that everyone has to do what works for them. I tried the tapering as I was successful in the past at this but couldn't this time around. I flushed what I had left New Year's Eve and went cold turkey. I am now on day 5 and hanging in there.
Once again, congrats!! Be very proud of yourself!!!
Keep going strong!
Best of luck!
