My Teeth are breaking??? WHY???

July 17th was my last percocet 5mg.  I have been clean now for 19 days. I still have bad days but its easier to get through the rough times now then before. ( Emotional Rollercoaster ) very scary thoughts but got through them with my wonderful husband. But now in the last 3 days I have broken 2 teeth. First one I was brushing my teeth and a pice from my bigger top molar came off. The second one was on the bottom a smaller molar broke completely in half.

Why is this happening?  Is it a lack of calcium or what not sure what it is or why its happening now?

If anyone has any info on why my teeth seem so soft and breakable please let me know.  I don't have any insurance to cover a dentist visit or a repair.

Is this an effect from use of percocet and not using them anymore?  I have always had great teeth, strong, white and seemed healthy. Now not so much. I brush with the sensodine tooth paste.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Awakened.

i think there was a thread not too long ago regarding opiates and tooth decay, maybe do a search for it (on medhelp) and see if it pops up for you. But yeah I think i remember reading that prolonged opiates can cause your teeth to go bad sooner. I know that for myself my teeth have had problems, but i also had teeth problems before i was an addict and its hereditary in my case. Both my parents had false teeth by the time they were 40! Thankfully for me so far, only the back ones have broken/needed pulled/fixed but I worry all the time that my front ones will go soon and HAVE to be fixed cuz I dont want to go around with no front toofies, LOL.   Also.....beware...it was tooth problems that got me to fall off the wagon a few months ago- had some bad issues, a bad extraction and had to go on narcotics for and i went right back into full abuse with that again.  So if your teeth start hurting, please be careful not to fall back into a relapse. You may need antibiotics like right now since you just had a tooth break--that means there is bacteria entering your tooth in the new hole it created and will cause infection (which casues pain!). So you may want to see if you can at least get your doctor or old dentist to call in an RX for amoxicillin (its 4$ generic) so you dont get a bad toothache. Good luck to you.
