My husband has been addicted to percocets for 2 yrs now

My husband is only 23 & We have been together since 2007 & he's been addicted to percocets for going on 2 yrs. He finally admitted to being addicted to them about 6 months ago. He snorts between 8 to 15 a day depending on how many he can get. I however am prescribed percocets because I had open heart surgery & lung surgery & many others. I do not take what my doctor wants me to because I am terrified I will end up just like that. Depending on something for the rest of my life & Im already depending on alot of people because I have been disabled before I turned 18. I am a very independent woman. I stay in so much pain everyday because i wont take those pain pills how i should because of him. He has quit 3 times before now & relapsed everytime. I love him more than anything in this world, but I just cant take it anymore. He is on day 2 right now going on day 3. He has done better than before, but it starting to feel the withdraws now. He seems to be really wanting to quit this time. He's been taking tylenol to help with the withdraws. It seems to help & he takes really hot showers 3 times a day & that also seems to help. He trys to sleep as much as possible so he's not tempted to do any. Like i said I have been through this 3 other times & not sure if he'll really quit. All he ever worries about if when & where & how he is getting his next pill & Im the one stuck worried about all of our bills. Idk what to do anymore. Im scared & stressed & tired of dealing with this. I have nobody to talk to about it either because nobody knows about his problem. I need some advise to help him & to also help myself get through this. Any idea's PLZ & thank you!

Hello, welcome, and I'm sorry for your suffering.  There was great advice given above which I would follow along with this.  I detoxed off of a high dose of opiates starting 20 days ago.  The medication that helped me was clonidine (Blood pressure med been around forever and commonly used in opiate detox) I saw in your post you were seeking medical help and so I would ask the doctor about this.  It really does help.  Hot baths, bananas, and lots o fluids.  Exercise once over the hump.  VITAMINS.  These are crucial. B6, B12, C, potassium and magnesium.  Lastly-take good care of yourself.  Remember you can't control his addiction or make him stop.  You can only be in charge of your own choices.  Stay strong and post whenever you want...we're always here....Sending support...Lu

Hi, I agree with Gnarly. Putting down the drugs is the first step. Staying clean takes work but it's sooo worth it. Liquid Imodium is the best. I took it morning and night. Also stay hydrated! Dehydration can make the WD worse. I drank Gatorade all day for days. I visualized the drugs leaving my body everytime I went into the bathroom. I also thanked my body for not giving up on me. The truth is, we are so lucky to still be alive. A lot don't make it!
Wishing you and your hubby inner strength!
You can do this!!!

I will begin my journey to get clean too and I have been getting a lot of positive responses about Imodium. Supposedly it will elevate majority of the withdrawl symptoms. I am going to definetly try it ... Maybe it will help him get through the next few days, cause it will be rough. Good luck:)
