NEED ADVICE ASAP...HELP

My sister is a narcotic addict. She is recently out of a 28 day program for the 5th time. she has lost custody of her kids it is a bad situation. She has been staying with me since she got out. I thought the other night she sounded high. I looked in her pocketbook this morning and found SOMA wraped up in a tissue...Shou;d I be worried. Is SOMA something she shouldnt take??

SOMA is used to treat pain.  I am not sure if it's an opiate based painkiller but a google search indicated you can become physically dependent on it and it can create drug seeking addictive behavior.  If she is in recovery my opinion is no she should not be taking it.  Sorry for the bad news.  And sorry for what you are going through with your sister.  I wish you and your sister all the luck in the world and am sending prayers your way.

If it wasn't prescribed for her she shouldn't take it. Call her on it.

Soma is a muscle relaxant. I agree with january43 though, if it is not prescribed to her... She should not have it. Maybe it is not an opiate but it could be the beginning of the road back... Good Luck.

Soma is not a painkiller it is a muscle relaxer.  It is considered to be addictive, however, it is not a narcotic.  It is probably not something that someone who is in recovery should be taking, especially if it was not prescribed for her.
