Nearing end of Oxy taper

I was taking 80-100mg/day for around a month. I would chew them and stay up all night. I began tapering and am now down to 5mg of Hydrocodone per day. If I try and stop I get sicker than when I went from 40 to 20 which was hell. Any suggestions. I only have one hydro left but have lots of morphine. I never abused morphine but have some left from surgery. Is it possible to taper for several weeks with morphine and reduce dosage. take 5mg then 3 than 1 then off. I have had an excrutiating time with this withdrawl and just want it to end.

How are you hangin???

I have to say - i thought it would be easy going from 5mg to nothing - and as it has been said here before - it is different for everybody - and lemme tell you - it was still really hard to go from that little amount to nothing.

I'm not saying don't try - but don't dismiss the fact that you probably will still feel like a**!

Take the advice of everyone here - get time for yourself to feel like **** - and power through it.  And know we're here to listen to the vents and struggles.  It isn't easy for anyone!!!!

Thanks mema. I am taking 2 Tylonol 3s a day now. and will go to one on Monday for a few days. I made it until 4 today with no meds. Try and stay busy. The worst is oaver. No more leg pain. I have the morph around if needed since I only have a half dozen T3s left. I remember the first few weeks when I would wake up I could taste and feel the withdrawl and barely function. My legs were so sore I could barely walk. Now the only symptpms are nausua and faster heartbeat. I never underestimate the mind in this equation. It is a hard thing to let go of. Best to all and thanks.

Thanks for the advise. I have had to hide the withdrawl from family. Morphine if takedn under the tongue in powder form is weaker than oxy as far as effect goes. The pills are a lot different than the liquid. I was thinking of 2.5 morph one week and thaen 1 mg next then quite. I am used to being sick for 6 weeks so maybe now is the time to just get the flu for a week. (already used that). w/d from 5mg fhould not be too hard though if I dont take it I cant function. (went down from 10 oxy  to 5 hydro  a week  ago. On Xmas I needed to be with family so I took 2 and have one left for tmrw. Still feel sick at this dose.

DO NOT GO TO MORPHINE!

From my experience, after my surgeries, they tapered me off morphine in ICU - and despite being drugged with other pain meds - I can remember the morphine w/d!!!!

It is way tooooooo powerful!  DO not use the morphine to help the taper. It will only make it worse!

Try and stay with the 5mg - and then see about getting some time where it is YOU time - and you can work on stopping the 5mg.

That is my experience - maybe someone else has other wisdom to impart - but I'd steer CLEAR of the morphine!

Sweetie, if I can do it so can you! You have more strength in your own self then you even think possible right now!
Going from one pill "crutch" to another? I DON'T KNOW...
I (personally) would not, but you are an adult and have to make your own decisions even if it ends up being labeled a mistake. Then you learn from that.
