Nedd help with a person in relapse......

I have a close friend who has relapsed and chose me to be there support only they want to choose to stay stuck by continuing drinking.  I am in my first year in sobriety so I don't really know if its a good idea to be by his side...I'm in fear of finding myself in a place where I might get tempted.  I dont know what I should do about him....I gut feeling is to leave him till he gets to the point where he's open to handling things in the right way instead of the easy way.   What do you think?

If he wont go to aa or continues to drink then its more likely that you will drink if you are around him. If he chooses to drink then what CAN you do ? Nothing and you know that. The very best and probably only thing you can do is FOR you. Take care of your sobriaty,be an example to follow and if/when he asks then show him how you do it. gl

I would be cautious of that. It seems like you are hesitant about it to begin with. Maybe you should suggest he go to AA.
