Need Medical advise

i have fever with it and I'm treating with a wrap and  ice. Meds r 600,000 units Penicillin G Procaine Sus IM every 12 hrs and with 500 mg Ciprofloxaxin twice daily. My condition started the 24th and started treatment 26th. Needed advice on either draining and flushing, keep current plan wrapped and iced? I dont believe its systemic, but does have a little ball at injection site and believe the diluting agent may have been contaiminated.

Hey, what were you shooting? Is there streaking go up the arm? How high is the fever? If you place moist heat on the site it will slowly draw it out, but if you have a high fever after abx use it could be that the abx are not effective. May I ask if you haven't gone to an ER/seen a MD, how did you get the abx? Do you have a bad headache? Could it be cotton fever? I used to shoot coke and meth that's why I'm asking.

It was coke and a licked needle! have slight headaches and low grade fever that breaks with a dose of tylenol. got the cipro from a friend and take orally and the Pen is  a vet grade but same stuff as we r givin at MD office. this is a first for this to happen and was just worried and needed advice. as far as going to ER, afraid that my Steroid use would be discovered and lose job and marriage

Yikes...well what about your arm? Is it streaking up your arm from the injection site? I hate to be the one to say this, but are you ready to quit? I know the addiction, the chase of coke..its grips on to you and doesn't let go. I have no real knowledge of steroids besides all the damage they can do to you.

Have long you been shooting coke? I once got cotton fever after shooting meth and I always licked my needles. It streaked red up my arm, had a hell of a headache and a high fever for about 24hrs. Do you still have a fever?

The good news is this was the first time to try IV Coke use and will be the last. No streaking just redness and swelling with 100 degree fever that comes and goes with Tylenol. I believ I'm scarred straight on this one!

Oh good, well then I would put moist heat on it: put a wet towel in the microwave for like 1-2 minutes and then wrap that in another towel but make sure its not to hot as to burn the skin...this will draw out whatever is in there...I wouldn't go draining it or flushing it, that can cause more problems in itself.

I really do hope you don't do it again, its playing with fire.

and i need to know if the ABX r the right dosages, or if that is to much, or if i need more? As far as the steroid use, I believe that we as Americans have been feed a line of crap. I'm 35 yo and have normal Liver and Kidney function( Regular anonamous  Bloodwork) and  i am in better physical condition than I was in HighSchool. I'm not one of those monsters U see on TV but am Athletic looking. U do realize what MD's r administering Patiets at Anti-Aging Clinics all over, Steroids! If not abused and takin in normal cycles in healthy adult MALES! Sorry Soapbox! LOL Thx for the advice BTW

So no ice, the vein is blown and infected, just worried about it becoming Systemic

Yeah as a RN, I admin steroids all the time and see the good they can do, but I also have seen the bad...again I don't know much about steroid use outside of the hospital setting and in pt's that use it for respiratory disorders

Don't know about the dose of abx, if it were me I would stop taking it since your fever isn't that high (over 102) and it sounds like its a very localized reaction....I would keep up with the tylenol, moist heat wraps and see how it looks tomorrow.

Well you could alternate with heat and ice...so it sounds to me now since you said that that you blew your vein, so what has happened is the needle went through the vein and you injecte dthe coke int he tissue of your arm = swollen, painful arm. No need for abx for this, moist heat will draw it out of the tissue and your body will slowly reabsorb it over the next few days...ibuprofen will help with the swelling or tylenol, whichever you would prefer. I really think all you did was basically "miss" did it hurt when you injected it?

It was sore a little that morning and continually was getting worse over the next day, thats when i started treatment. read to keep it wrapped and iced for the blown vein part but haven't found any treatment guide for the infection to go with that. I do know that when it is wrapped it feels a lt better and when unwrapped for a period of time then rewrapped the fever returns. DK exact temp but can feel it. BTW woke up yesterday and my bed was soaked, ive had night sweats before but this was insane!

Yeah keep it wrapped then if it helps, but really try the moist heat wrap, it will draw it out, we use it at the hospital all the time for blown veins.

If it does get worse, more swollen, higher fevers please go to a MD ok...it is all confidential, just make sure you take care of yourself..I hope your done with the coke too, shooting, snorting, whatever...be good to yourself!
