Bloop-  I'm sorry this is so scary to you but the fact is this is a very scary situation. When you stop the drug abruptly, seizures are certain. There's no way around that.

Withdrawal symptoms may well appear in a few hours from the last dose. Seizures could take a few days to appear and there's not really anything you can do except take more of the drug OR a seizure medication. There are some drugs that will prevent a seizure but, nonetheless, you need to seek professional help.

An ER has to treat you. It's the law. Again, sorry to scare you but evyone is giving you the absolute, most prudent advice they can. You need to seek help as soon as you can.

I agree and I don't know why she can't go only that she says she can't.  I agree she should go.

Boop if you are still on here - please get yourself to ER.

ER's have to treat anyone that comes through their doors, regardless of their ability to pay so yes, she could go.

The website I gave her says convulsions within 16 hours, maybe she's past that, and I'm not sure what the difference is between convulsions and seizures?

vicky - she has no funds to go to ER, she is stuck in this situation - Vicki can you tell her anything to watch out for, any pre signs of a seizure or does it just hit you?  I was messaging offline with her - we are scaring her (I know we are trying to help but the situation is what it is).

What is the best thing she can do since we know she is stuck with no ability to get to ER or Urgent care????????

When did you take your last pill? Look up fioricet under emedexpert and it tells you about withdrawals says it can start within 16 hours

Yes. It's almost certain. That amount for years is a guarantee. Start working on this right now. Either an urgent care or an ER as others suggested. Also, those folks can refer you to a doctor and you need to see one right away. The urgent care folks know how dangerous this drug is CT, so I'm sure they'll help you.

Let us know...

You need to see a doctor ASAP, all that Tylenol can damage your liver. There are other meds for headabde, if you're taking about 7 a day they aren't working and you are probably getting rebound headaches from them now. I've suffered with headaches for 20 years, go see a neurologist for help. Rebound headaches are no fun, I've gotten them from over medicating even though all I wanted was pain relief.  Good luck to you and get on this right away.

I totally agree with Vicki & Gasten on this - you don't want to mess with fiorcet and cold turkey - when you go just don't ask for the meds - be honest with your situation and how badly you want off the meds safely.  Don't take the chance especially if you are alone with no support.

please keep us posted and let us know how you are.

What I would do?
I would go to the ER immediately and explain EXACTLY what you have been doing and for how long.  In addition to risk of seizure fioricet is composed of aceteminophen (tylenol), which can cause liver damage.  The doctors there can take control of both the seizure risk and well as liver damage risk.  In addition, they can refer you to immediate and proper treatment for withrawal from this.  You cannot do this without professional help.  PLEASE  go to the ER, or, if you have an internist, make an immediate emergency appointment, telling them you cannot wait and must go in that very day.

Good luck and Keep us posted!!!

Thanks, I was doing some research, but had no clue about this drug.

Boop..keep posting and coming back here.  I promise you will get the support esp. since you are alone in a new state.  Let us know how you are doing.  Since there is a concern about seizures...keep us close so we can help.

I am so sorry you are facing this alone.  Have you found a new doctor to see??

Hi- You're in a very bad spot if you're out of pills. Fioricet cannot be stopped abruptly ever. The risk of seizure is certain.

You need to taper these slowly and by small amounts. If you don't have any more you need to get some. Try going to an urgent care center where they'll understand about quitting a barbiturate and ask them for some more Fioricet and a good taper plan. Then, find a doctor right away.

Good luck with this.

Hi Boop and Welcome.  I know you are scared and quitting fiorcet cold turkey isn't really the way to do it but it sounds like you have no choice.

Can you get to the store to pick up:  immodium, gatorade, some easy food like frozen mac n' cheese, mash taters that type of thing?  Take the immodium aggressively for the trots, hydrate hydrate hydrate and take lots of hot showers.  Just put a towel down in the tub, lay down and let the water run over you.  Days 2 & 3 are usually the worst.

It isn't any fun at all but it is doable.   Keep the phone close to you in case you do have a seizure (which is the risk of stopping fiorcet c/t) and ride it out as best you can.

Post here for support, we've all been where you are and we understand what you are going thorugh right now.  I also laid on top of towels so if I had an accident or for the cold sweating that way I could pull the towels off without having to get up and change the bed.

We are here and we care - we will support you through this!

It will be ok.  Have you detoxed before or is this your first time?
