Need help! Dont know the answer to this one.

I recently got caught tampering with one of my prescriptions for oxycontin. The pharmacy called the Dr. and did not give me my script back. Since then I have gotten in touch with a treatment facility who can get me in, however it wont be until January 2nd. The doctor talked with my mother and said he was not going to press charges. I still have one script left to fill that is legit. Can I fill it to help me until I get in to see this addictionologist? My mother hands them out to me because I am an addict. I am having convulsions and panic attacks.

Is your treatment facility a detox facility as well? I would not suggest suddenly stopping this medication if you have been on it for years. Detox centers gradually taper you off the drug, making it safer to detox. I would look in to your treatment facility more or talk to your doctor about tapering off the medication and have your mom hand out the tapering dose. It would be wrong of your doctor to expect you to suddenly stop this medication. Also, if you are having convulsion, or if the panic attacks get bad enough, certainly go to the nearest emergency room.

Who wrote the legitimate script? The same doctor? If it's legit for sure, have your mother get it filled and hand them out to you. Be careful!
