Need help and encouragment for opiate withdrawl

I have been  an opiate junkie for 30+ years and I am really getting tired of the same routine of trying to keep my out of control habit feed. I have risked my freedom by seeing more than one doctor, using fake names at doctors offices and emergency rooms. ( in colorado that is a felony- obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and deceit) and also my relationship with my wife is going to hell in a hand basket!!!
What I would like is some feedback on what I may use for the withdraw aches and pain and those long nights that seem to last forever. I plan to cold turkey from a 15 - 20 percs a day habit. Every time I try to taper down I fail big time. I tried to cold turkey 3 weeks ago and I was on my 3rd day. I got weak and gave in. If anyone can give me some ideas that will help me please let me know!!

First off you need to change your way of thinking! Dedicate yourself and you WILL NOT fail. You have came to the right place as we have all been thru it and as you will see it is possible. Yes the wds suck, but you can make it, each day is a new and better day. And everyday you make it through be proud of yourelf, don't confess how terrible it is, confess I made it another day. Positive energy as I always say goes a long long way. We are all here for you, and you can do this. Trust me I promise that it will be worth it. My prayers are with you! Reach out to God and confess your deliverance everyday!! Keep posting, and we are hear for you!

You are standing at the fork inthe road,,,,

The fork that is drugs leads to death, jail or institutions.

The other fork leads to pain with gain and eventually to......... FREEDOM BABY!

Its calls for a decision and a plan to detox that includes trashing the dope, and setting your mindset that you will not use no matter how bad you feel,,,,, PERIOD. You will need to be accountable to someone close to you and be prepared to be bedridden and near a bathroom for a few days. Get plenty of fluids, something for diarreah, protein shakes are also a good source of food to help with the bad stomach issues.

I have 12 days clean now ( second time around ) but I know from personal experience from being set free from 2001 to 2007 that being clean is awesome and incredible. That is why I am here now.

You too can be clean. Set up your detox and stay plugged in here!

Very impressive. Congrats to you.  Great job. I'm on day 3 without my codeine. I took a darvocet and that helped. I am trying. I try every month. The only thing that really bothers me are the bathroom issues. You r an inspiration. I can't imagine how hard it was for u to go from 30 pills to none. You have it behind u now.

Welcome//a great place to be right now///learning is important//admitting u ned to learn and stiop is huge step to recovery cos some vnevr do this//they use til they lose everything they love//everyone that loved them//they use til they slowly die cos this crud doesnt get any better!  only worse!
U didnt state ur DOC nor ur dose?  CT is often the way peeps end up doing cos many addicts suk at tapering down...it is hard to control a disease/a pill/who in reality has control of our own self///so tapering takes lots of discipline and usually includes handing over pills to a trusted one to dole out///even then it is hard
Flushing just one pill can be a process of letting go..it is empowering..letting go is hard//but ion order to get clean and STAY clean//the pills gotta go//cutting off all supply and any refills..tough but close to impossible to stop when pills are easy acess//just tough to do for a true addict
The thomas recipe rox///there is lots of info ion the health pages under Discussion//lots of advice and good info//plus just posting here is a great start//most need aftyercare like counseling or meetings to maintain being clean//we r all different but wanting to stop is a great start

keep posting

Just fyi, I think they have a computer system in colorado that can track narcotic activity if you are going to different docs and using your real name.  At least that is what I was told.

If you can get a doc to give you clonidine (for blood pressure and you will need to monitor your pressure) and neurontin (for pain) those two things can help a lot.

I wish you the best!

Welcome to the forum.  I also used for over 30 years.  Today i am 630 plus days clean.  There is hope so dont give up.  WD is no fun at all but it is something we have to go thru to get to the other side.  Aftercare is something we really promote on the forum.  There is a reason why we numb ourselves and we have to face our demons to be able to move on and live life clean.  You are dancing with the devil right now.  We will be here to help you                sara

I mainly went cold turkey with the help of melatonin and nyquil at times for sleep!  I just dealt with what I was given.  The worst was over in about 5 days then the mental game started.  I'm on 13 days now and feel great!  Anyhow a lot of people use the Thomas recipe(in health pages) and the amino acid protocol(also in the health pages).  During the days I would find something to do even if I had to force myself.  I spent a lot of time here reading and posting.  If you have any questions keep posting.  Good luck stay strong and remember clean life is amazing!
