Need help with Klonopin

Someone please help me. Is there a danger of a Klopopin addiction when i it used as a tool to help get off vicodin. Also, anyone got any ideas which is easier to bail from: Vicodin or Suboxone?

yes dog, klonopin can be addicting but it is used all the time in oppiate withdrawal and if you need it you need it. i had a painkiller problem for years which led me to the grandmaster of oppiates for about 5 months(dope) the first thing i would do is relax a bit and give yourself a break, your trying to get off oppiate painkilers and thats a huge step to take you should be proud of yourself. I know many addicts that have gotten clean and sober and need to take medicine for legit reasons(i happen to be one of them). It soundke your only looking at this medicine for withdrawal purposes which is great for you if you only need it for some duration  of withdrawal thats awesome. some people will give you the "you cant be on any meds if you really want to get clean" routine. Its different strokes for diferent folks in everything in life and especially in getting clean. I dont agree with the quote i just wrote but thats just me as long as your being supervised by a doctor and arent abusing your presription and you need the medicine for a real reason i think your fine. Remember its YOUR recovery you will get many differing opinions but your the one thats feeling what your feeling not us so do what YOU feel is right.Personally i would avoid suboxone if you can some think its harder to get off that than the drugs that got us into this mess to begin with lol. I was given suboxone for 4 days when i was detoxing and i thank god the doctors only had me on it for for 4days, long term use of it should be avoided if it can. Good luck to you i hope i didnt throw too much at you at once God bless, you can get through this if i can get clean anybody can get clean its a life long journey but i enjoy the trip.

I agree that you would need to be VERY careful.  Any benzodiazepine would be a helpful tool for detoxing.....but you would REALLY have to be vigilant in making sure you only took the very minimal needed, for a VERY short period of time.  Otherwise...you may end up with ANOTHER monkey on your back, ya know?

Also...if you DO decide to go that route...you may be better off with a short acting benzo, like Ativan or Xanax instead of the Klonopin.  The Klonopin basically has a longer half life and is more useful as a "maintenence" drug for anxiety issues, whereas the shorter acting benzos give you quicker relief, but then are out of your system much faster.  You would benefit from not having to wait until the Klonopin gets to a therapeutic level in your system.

As for Sub...that is a very controversial topic.  Sub used anthing but very short term can lead to a MUCH more difficult detox than the original DOC.  Again....as with the benzo...if you can truly commit to sticking with a VERT short term course of Sub Rx (I'm talking like 2 weeks)  with a quick taper....it might be helpful...but please give it some thought first.  Depending on how bad your hydro problem is (how many you take and how long you've been taking them)...I would be more inclined to tell you to go the benzo route.  Just my opinion.

Stick around here...there is a ton of useful info, and most importantly.....unending priceless support.

Best of luck to you.

Ohhh boy YES klonapin is very addicting I would steer clear of it .I dont remeber close to a whole year that my doctor had me on it .If you need a benzo which I would use as sparling as possable because they are so addicting I would talk to you doctor about valium.

how much hydro are you taking right now ? Have you ever tried to quit before ?

no narcotic is easy to bail from and everyone is different  so hard to say...klonpin used as prescribed just for detox should not be a problem...i would try only to use it small amounts for a couple of weeks to be safe..good luck to u
