Need help with a question

I have been clean from oxys for over 2 weeks and during the w/d process I was smoking a little weed to help with the anxiety, take my mind off things, sleep etc. I did that for the first week and then my girlfriend came to town last week and I didn't smoke during the week but there were defintiely times where it would have helped me. Does anyone see a problem with this? I can easily go without it but i feel like the pain killers was such a more serious problem so I feel like if smoking a little bit now and then helps me get through this then it is worth it. I certainly don't want to trade one drug for another..but one drug grabbed a hold of me like no tomorrow and smoking doesn't have any chemically addicting substances that i know of. I know everyones obvious answer is going to be, dont smoke if you dont have to. but some people can reason that its not as easy as that. i am truly open to any and all suggestions. what i will typically do is go to work, come home, eat dinner, work out, smoke and watch a little tv and go to sleep.

just remember you didnt start put addicted to the pills either.  the smoke is not physically addictive, but most definately mentally addicting.  you are much better of if you can get by without it.  try some melotonin or someting if you need help with sleep....just my opinion.  i used to be a bad weed head...it is harder mentally than u mite rhink.  good luck.

yeah your definitely right..i have smoked for about four years but i have always stopped because i can be drug tested for baseball..i just feel like some people have their suboxone and other things to get through it and sometimes i just need to smoke a little..believe me i know your right i just feel like at times if smoking a little bit helps prevent a relapse to pain killers it might be worth it. i knew the answer to my question before i typed it, i was just interested in some different feedback

The 1st time I stopped oxys I smoked a lil now and then and didn't find it helped, but I got things that DID help like valium and lorazapam. This is not an easy addiction to kick so I feel like if you need something to make it easier you should use it when needed. It's not nearly as bad as pills.

I have to agree with addict200, I don't feel smoking a little hurts anything as long as it doesn't be come a crutch...if you find you need to smoke more and more, I would be worried but if you can handle it and it helps. I don't see a problem...

if you need it to take the edge off go ahead but dont let it control you like the pills.  maybe a couple hits at night but try not to become dependant on it...lots of people swear by the mean green helping..i dont know but good luck to ya

Yeah since I was doing pills and play college baseball i dont smoke a lot at all..but the past few weeks its been nice at times to take my mind off things..im doing really well without the pills and after quitting pills stopping smoking is like cake..but for the summer since i am not subject to a drug test it is a nice release after a long day at work..my girlfriend was out for a week and i didnt smoke at all when she was here and that was during week 2..so i was a little antsy but for the most part totally fine..im just one of those people that doesnt see a big harm in smoking but thats just me..i find it weird that certain companies want nothing to do with someone who might smoke occasionally at night..but under their rules you could go drink 12 beers every night and if it doesnt dramatically affect your performance either nobody will know or they wont really care..baseball has always been whats kept me away from this stuff but last year i screwed up my elbow, had surgery, got out of shape compared to what i usually am, and did pills because the drs would keep prescribing them if i called..now im done with the pills..working hard..im in better shape than i have ever been..the biggest thing i have noticed is that mentally i am happy, but sometimes it doesn't show on my exterior and people have asked if something is bothering me. ive been good at hiding it but obviously after 2 and 1/2 weeks im not completely back to normal.

well HELLO EVERYBODY................

do you not know that it is illegal (dumb as it may seem) and ah you can really get into alot of trouble for it? how would you like to be caught up in the system getting drug tested every week? possibly jail time also on top of dealing with the whole withdrawl (withdrawal) and drug problem? is it not hard enough in itself?

i do not see anything wrong with an occasional smoke. but the law does and you do not need anymore problems at a time like this.

i am opening up another can of worms here-------------

while i was tappering i would sometimes have a glass of wine or 2 just to take the edge off and relax me a bit. a good wine makes you feel very mellow, not rowdy like beer or liquor. but then i have never had a drinking problem and for many this is not a good idea.

but it is perfectly legal and if it is not a problem to only drink a little, it did help me much.

IN 13 STATES MARIJUANA IS LEGAL..IT IS PRESCRIBED FOR ALOT OF DIFFENT DISEASES.AND SICKNESS..POT IS A NATURAL ALTERNATIVE FOR MEDICINE.. POT WILL NOT KILL YOU AND THE # OF DEATHS PER YEAR ARE -0-....THE GOVERMENT WOULD RATHER SEE AMERICANS HOOKED AND ALL SCREWED UP ON DRUGS....THEN STICK THEM IN A METHADONE PROGRAM THAT THE STATE ENDS UP PAYING FOR ANYWAYS...THAT MAKES ALOT OF SENSE...IF EVERYONE SMOKED A LITTLE WEED I THINK THERE WOULD BE LESS CRIMES,MURDERS,ETC...PEACEAND LOVE(LIKE BACK IN THE 60'S)  NO SIDE EFFECTS WITH POT.. IT HAS ALOT OF MEDICINAL VALUES  LOKK INTO IT

i couldnt agree more especially about the government part..but thats a whole different conversation..oxys are everywhere just magically..theyre supposed to be so controlled and yet they are somehow everywhere and nothing has changed lol..its insane to think about what the government knows..they know exactly what they are doing

The only thing i would worry about is if it impairs your judgement enough to go back to taking a pill every now and then.  Then you're back at square one.  If you're using any type of chemical to 'cope' with life, it's a potential problem.
