Need more details on Xanax

I have been told my some people to try xanax for my insomnia, anxiety and restlessness, during the night.  From what I now xanax too is habit forming and I have bad genetic codes for this(My father was an addict for over 35 years of his life) Just wondering if anyone can tell me if taking it for the 1-2 weeks while I detox will be enough for me to get dependent on it or do I need to avoid it all together.    

Any Suggestions?????

i've taken xanax and valium, but never for longer than a week or two. the lorcet addiction is hard enough and i've seen many friends addicted to xanax. my personal experience is short term i'm okay. but you should try to do it without them if you can. what about tylenol PM, that has always worked good for me.

I take xanax to help me sleep but not every nite as this is 1 of my drugs of choice but I can live w/out it i prefer advil pm stronger then tylenol oh I also smoke weed it helps

Recently,i was perscribed xanax also to help me sleep.They are from what i know,habit forming.But my suggestion is make sure they give you a low dosage of them. .25 mg is the lowest.Those are not to strong and to me,its just enough to help me sleep,but not put me in a coma.

Since this is my first week off of hydrocodone,i will take 1 xanax every night.After the first week,i will only take a xanax if i know i cant sleep.Being a low dosage,i dont think they will be to habit forming.
