Need to come off medication

Need to come off medication

I have had 5 foot surgerys over the last 3 years and I have been on vicodin for the last 3 years, I know I need to stop taking these but I am having a difficult time. How can I wean myself off this medicine and what will I do for the pain that I suffer with from these surgeries... I really need some help and I hope I am in the right place....

if you want to ween off these pain meds you could taper down the amount your taking every couple of days.  this is what i did, many have trouble tapering, it may be easier if you have someone dole out a certain amount each day.  i tapered from 10, 8, 5, 4, 3, 2 and then jumped.  (i had to do it that way as i was running out of pills!)  it wasn't fun and it wasn't easy by any means but i was so determined to quit.  and it helped with the wd's, i still had them but they weren't as horrible as going ct.  the only problem, it does kinda prolongs your recovery.  as far as your pain, i have horrible back pain, comes and goes and so far so good without the meds.  sometimes your brain plays tricks on you, telling you your still in pain to so it can get the meds.  i've tried everything under the sun for my pain, acupunture, steriod injection, massage, physical therapy, even had a sprititual woman pray on my back, the best thing is-exercise, good eating, and a positvie attitude!
best of luck to you
