welll after all that drama- i ended up not getting the stupid tooth pulled!! I have 2 sick kids AGAIN here and spent hours yesterday shampooing the couch and floor with the carpet shampooer if ya get my drift. I did go to my appt, and talked to the dentist about everything. Told him my kids are sick, we have no insurance and Im going to need that money for more medicine again. he was sympathetic about it, and also gave me a new antibiotic which is helping even more. i have no tooth pain at all since yesterday. he said maybe just maybe we can save that tooth via a root canal anyways (although that costs more than being pulled of course) so will just wait and see what happens for now. THe nicest part was, he didnt even charge me for the visit/consultation yesterday- and he spent a long time talking to me, looking at my x-rays etc. You dont see that very often- a freebie appointment??!! I thanked him profusely!
anyhow thanks everyone for your support and sorry you had to hear me whine about this forever and then i didnt even get it done! if it comes to it again, I'll just keep my mouth shut entirely about it , lol
You will do just fine Trouble.......It will probably feel better to have it out then sitting in there being all yucky.........Ibuprofen 800 should do the trick......get some clove oil just in case............
I have my voodoo doll out and am poking the pins in it now for you to gain some weight!!!!!! LOL
Dry sockets are very easy to treat if you get one little clove oil on gause put in the opening and dry socket pain goes away .Of course not smoking really cuts the chances of getting it as well .
Nobody can tell you exactly what to do. Ty 3's may be ok depending on you. Once when I was clean about a year I had a extraction and got some codeines and gave them to my mom and only took a few. She wouldn't give me more than that anyway. You really only have serious pain for less than 24 hours tops after a routine extraction. all the best
LOL!!! You have a great attitude and since you've been through this before - you'll do fine! I know the soft diet ***** (LOL!!!!).
Hugs,
Janet
PS i forgot the worst part for me will probably be the NOT BEING ABLE TO EAT afterwards part!! not that i could eat much with it hurting the way its been anyways, but you know what i mean, I'll have to be extra careful to not like wedge a huge shard of dorito down in the hole, lmao! Yep, that will be the worst part for me, trying to stick to SOFT DIET. I gotta have my food, man, lol
signed, Trouble
(who SHOULD weigh 500 lbs the way I eat but only come in around 110 soaking wet, lol)
Utah- I'll try not to put my tongue in any holes, lmao!
thanks guys for the encouragement!! Ive had quite a few teeth extracted over the years, all my wisdom teeth I think now are gone but anyhow Im going to try to NOT SMOKE because Im sure that is probably why I always got dry socket before! THis is gonna be harder than anything though with no cigs, but hey Im gonna try!
trouble, you are strong. youcan get through this. ask for ibuprofen 800..it helps me...hang in there and let us know how it goes...
Trouble:
Sweetie, you'll do just fine. Having teeth extracted today is not so bad. I work for a large dental clinic here in Utah and our exodontist has taught me a lot about how to avoid dry sockets, etc. Whatever you do, once the tooth is pulled do NOT suck on straws, cigarettes, or drink hot or cold drinks (lukewarm drinks only) or put your tongue into the hole! When you do those things, it will remove the blood clot and that's what causes the dry sockets. Most people do not have an issue with them. But, they are painful and so take every precaution not to get one! As for pain following, Ibuprofen used in conjunction with Tylenol usually works. What our dentists do is prescribe 800 mgs. Ibuprofen every 8 hours and in between you can take Tylenol. So, let's say you took an Ibuprofen and then 2 hours later you could take a Tylenol and just keep alternating. But, stay on top of it. Of course, ask your dentist what he/she suggests and follow their advice, not mine! :) Most people do not experience much pain though.
I'll say some prayers for you that you'll have little or no discomfort!
Hugs,
Janet
Some people with extremely bad teeth are prescribed Peridex, an antiseptic/ slight antibiotic type rinse to help with teeth swelling. Non- narcotic, and use twice a day, can really help with gum swelling and pain. Ask for a RX of that to help you through. You can do it!
oh yeah the "oil of cloves" thats what they used on the movie marathon man when that guy was torturing dustin hoffman..
hi there,i had 2 wisdom teeth removed at once and i didnt have any pain (most of the pain was before when they were impacted) so i hope you dont have any!! i would always ask for vics though just because any excuse for me to take them i would ..i am crossing my fingers for you, maybe one of those things you put in the microwave ,those cloth things i dont know what you call them but they would feel good to put on your jaw ...and dont forget to squirt your socket with salt water and pack it back with gauze so you wont get dry socket...i remember they told me not to smoke lol but i did ..thats a good way to get dry socket..i remember your post about your ex,im sorry you have to deal with that..i am a strong believer in karma so lets just hope he will see the light someday one way or another..i was with my sons father for 9 yrs before i left..the emotional abuse was so constant...when i left he got on something prozac i think and totally changed..for the better..but it was too much too late..anyway if you ever need to vent about him i will listen,i understand
Good luck with your appt. I get dry socket all the time when I have a tooth removed.
You need to get some clover. I know it sounds nuts but it works. Ya know the spice they put in ham when the back it. You wrap it in a piece of guaze wet it and let it sit on the tooth scoket. Works well!
Good Luck!!
