Hey, I'm new to this forum...I was searching on google for oxycontin forums and found this. I've been addicted to oxy for about a year now doing between 160-240mg of oxy a day. Started out small with just sniffing a quarter of an 80 and eventually graduated to full 80's and you can guess the rest. I finally decided to check in to a methadone clinic because I'm sick of having to depend on Oxy to get me through the day. I snort 80's in one line and feel so good but only to come down about 10 hours later NEEDING another one so I can get rid of the intense hurt of withdrawal...I decided it's time to stop and focus more on school. I'm really scared because I'm so used to doing oxy everyday it's gonna feel really weird not going to my dealer and buying oxy. I have my first meeting in 5 hours...wish me luck.

i think you may be making a big mistake turning to methadone..i dont want to deter you or burst your bubble...but methadone is the worst and hardest drug to get off of...you are  trading 1 addiction for 1 that is 100 times stronger and worse...you will be sorry...i was...i have been off methadone for over 5 months now and i am still not right...i know of a few who are still sick 1 year after stopping...i understand how you feel with your addiction, it is hell...but there are other options that are much better and wont keep you trapped in the cycle of addiction...check out some information on suboxone...please?  you will not be sorry about the suboxone if you decide to go this route instead...  just a suggestion...but a highly recommended one...

Please don't do the methadone thing! Like wait2long said there are other options. I've only heard really bad things about the methadone thing. Please look into other options first, read all the posts at this forum, people will help you.

i totally agree with them. i was where you are. it seems impossible from where you are, but there is another way to do this without another addiction. please continue to read and talk to others here.

Try to suboxone route if you can....please. Its soo much easier on your body and I have only heard horror stories about the methadone!! The Sub works wonderfully also from what I've heard about it.
Yes, it will be hard getting used to living clean but it can be done if you want it bad enough. Its takes time and patience and alot of willpower and support!!
Coming to this site was a good step, theres alot of wonderful people here who care and understand what your going through and they are very supportive and full of ideas and help to get you through all this. ((((HUGS))))

hi there and welcome to the forum ... we are all here for the same problems, addicted to opiates or what have you ... i too agree w/wait2long ... how can i not, she's awesome ... but suboxone is the best treatment i think anyone can go .. i recommend it often to others who are battling the same problem as me .. addicted to vics, oxy's, percs, etc ... it literaly saved me and helped me get my life back ... i'm a stay at home mom w/2 young children and i tried going c/t but couldn't function, let alone take care of them .. tapering was out of the question, i would take em all .. anyways, suboxone doesn't allow you to go thru w/d's and it helps w/the cravings .. i've been on it since april and have to say, i have no complaints ... you can find a dr near you who can prescribe it, since not all can, and find out if it may help you and your situation ... keep us posted on what you decide to do .. good luck and take care of yourself .. peace!

I know about suboxone and it's a bit too pricey for my budget. I already started on the methadone and I already feel a lot better. I have a really good feeling about this. One of my friends did the same treatment as I am doing and at the same clinic and it only took him a month to get straight. He was in the same boat as I am and he turned out just fine! I really appreciate your input and will keep it in mind if the methadone treatment doesn't work as I plan. I will try the methadone for a month and see how it goes and if it isn't working out then I will definitely fork out the cash for Suboxone. I'll make a little journal on here as my treatment progresses. Thanks again for all your input! I'll be back soon!

Oh and I forgot to mention.. I'm currently studying to become a pharmacy technician and am almost done with my schooling so I am pretty knowledgeable when it comes to drugs and their effects/adverse reactions. I always do my research before I do anything. After I get my pharmacy tech. license I will be moving on to getting my PharmD so if anyone has questions I can answer to the best of my ability.

awesome for you.. and yes the methadone will work..i cant argue that...BUT you must know that it is the most addictive drug on the market...just be careful and strong willed, hold true to the 1 month time frame...if you are using it for withdrawals ONLY..then 7 days would be sufficient...just a suggestion...i hope you do come back and let us know whats up and how your doing...   oh and congratulations!!

and Hillary5  your the bomb hun...

The final result (to be clean) is what your after, anyway you can do it. So if the methadone works for you, go for it. Good luck. And keep coming back to this forum, its really helpful.
