New baby going through withdrawal symptoms

My ob/gyn is fully aware that I was prescribed Vicodin during my pregnancy, my son was born two weeks early via emergency c-section and is just over 48 hours old. They started doing a finnegan scale to test for withdrawal symptoms. Does anyone have any information on going through something like this in pa? Are cys going to become involved? I have other children as well and this was a prescribed medication. Is there anyone whose child needed to be treated? Or anyone who has any advice on what I can do to help him, sleep especially, he is a wonderful eater but will only sleep if I am holding him. Thank you.

Sorry, That one line is suppose to say "your doc you'd think would have told you that would happen though since they both knew you were taking them"

They didn't even really tell me how prevelant this could be and what it could mean. I ready between 57-90% have issues. But was told it wasn't a big deal, would just mean a fussier baby. I get here and the hospital is telling me if he scores over 8 3 times on the scale he could be here for weeks.

The only way they would be involved is if your doc calls them. And unless you were abusing them and getting them else where and taking more than prescribed then I don't see the issue? Your doc you'd think this was going to happen since they both new you were on them. But you're right I'm not from PA. Ask your doc if you're scared of this happening.

Well I've seen(before posting I did some reading on the site) some people who said in their states cys becomes involved either way. That's why I was asking specifically for PA.

If you were prescribed these meds and all your docs knew and they were fully prepared for when you went into labour with dealing with babies w/d's,then no know one will be involved. The docs will take care of him don't worry, once they figure he's past the w/d's safely you will get to take him home. Sucking on a pacifier will help him with the w/d's as well.
