like hopefalls said 20 mg's of opana is equal to 40 mg's of ocy's
yeah it should but they don't like moving archived threads or yes to would be moved
shouldnt this thread be in the Pain Management Forum?
I take opana 10mg 3x a day and percocet 10/325 3x a day, before that I was taking up to 160mg of oxycontin per day and my doc said that all that oxycodone was going to effect my life span in the long run as I am only 35yrs old! The opana works very well for me there is no euphoria like oxycontin but if you are taking it for what it is intended your not looking for euphoria anyways right? Sometimes that is hard to do when you take a certain drug for several years and it comes with the territory. That is what I had to explain to my wife that you don't pick and choose or turn off and on the effects of pain meds and I was worried for a while that I was becoming an addict but my doc told me that as long as I was taking the med for what it is for that dependency is not considered an addiction he said that your body becomes dependent and you don't even realize it until you stop taking it! I don't know where I am going with this sorry for the rambling
the goal is to take as little of the prn meds as possible, the doc told me i could mess with my dose of opana till I get enough relief
thanks , that was some solid advice. I think ive had avinza before, is kadian the same med just a dif name?
It's really hard to say that one med is "equal" to another because each person is different. From your post, I can see that you are trying to use your pain meds responsibly, and you will get no judgment from me for doing so. Moving on to Opana seems like a good idea considering the amount of acetaminophen you are taking from the Norcos. I did take Avinza at one time...which was a timed release morphine just like Opana. It worked for me, but I had to adjust the medication until I had constant relief. The key is to take enough to give you pain relief, but without the high. Chasing the high is what gets you in trouble. I don't agree with the statement that the Opana is twice as strong as Oxy, though. Of course, for you they may be. just be sure to work with your doctor to adjust your meds at slow increments.
for back pain, i have been taking pain meds for about 6 years now. I have Severe scoliosis, Cervical Vertebrae curve of 9 degrees, Thoracic Vertebrae curve of 32 degrees, Lumber Vertebrae curve of 55 degrees. a bulging disc at t3, severe herniated disc at t12 w pressure on the nerves, herniated L1, degenerated disc at L4, and L5, Compression at L5 and Sacrum w pressure on nerves. Compression on the sciatic nerve (sciatica). Osteoarthritis prestent at lumbar spine, degenerative disc disease. and possible ankylosing spondylitis. At least thats what the last tests show.
The docs was giving me 310 norcos a month, but now i get 240 and these opana er 10mg twice a day. The doctor and the pharm said 20mg of opana is about the same as 40mg of oxycontin
There's no other reason to take it other than pain..I think beach was asking what type of pain they were having that necessitated the taking of this particular medication.
probably for pain since he stated he's taking narco for pain.
OPANA, like OPANA ER, contains oxymorphone, an opioid agonist and Schedule II controlled substance with an abuse liability similar to morphine and can be abused in a manner similar to other opioid agonists, legal or illicit.
Its a schedule 2 drug and it is not twice as strong as oxycotin........Opana comes in 5-10-20 and 40 mgs.........
May i ask why your taking this med?
