New on here

I've been taking Vicodin and I was up to about 15 a day, then went down to about 10.  I started going to counseling and Saturday I went down to 5....so my plan was to taper down 1 pill every 3 days from here.  so by the 22nd I will be taking my last pill, but reading all these post I feel like just stopping CT.  Only thing I home school my kids and Sunday I'm suppose to go to Disneyland..don't know if I can physically do this.  Just by tapering and my body is all whacked out.  My back and legs hurts...so I imagine stopping CT.
What do you guys think??  I hate taking these pills, but I have to still stay functioning. I also have a plan in place...I started going to counseling about 2 weeks ago and I have looked into NA meetings, prob start going tomorrow.

Also, I changed my profile name to WillbMzIncredble, because to my kids I'm Ms Incredible and I want to be that again.  I don't want to feel ashamed any more.

You all are truly encouraging!!!

The taper method never worked for me.  I was taking 20 (5mg/10mg whichever I had at the time) per day.  The only taper I did is when I had 5 left, I took them all that last day =)
Yes the withdrawals SUCK, Yes you will have Flu like symptoms, so if you do C/T make sure you have a few days to live under your rock.  I needed 2 days, and then I ended up going to a family BBQ.. I was able to hang out there all night, but only because I was taking immodium, and prescribed clonidine (helps withdrawals).   So yes my experience worked best with cold turkey, but make sure you do it at a time where you have atleast 3 days to stay in the house, just in case you feel really bad.  It effects different ppl in different ways, but regardless you will be uncomfortable.   Good Luck to you..  Day 12 here, and feeling GREAT!

Tapering or C/T is a personal choice.  For me I could never taper, I would cut down a few days then spike my dose.  The reality is even with a taper you will suffer the flu like symptoms for a few days.  Put a plan in place and stick to it and you will be fine.  There are alot of wonderful people on here who help you through

Willbe - I wasn't taking as many as you and I still found tapering down a good way for me, however, you do it, C/T will be very difficult especially if you have obligations but I'm sure people do it - it is a very personal choice.  Set yourself up to have success and get ready to have the "flu".  I can only speak from my own experience tapering hydrocodone - I was ok even going down to one pill - it was the following day when I jumped off that withdrawals really started - I would not have been physically able to go anywhere or care for anyone but that is me and everyone's experience is different.   We are all here to support you.  I have 8 days off of those stupid things and I'm so thankful every day.
