Newly off percoset and scared/hopeful

Thanks to your encouragment, I went to my doctor and told her the absolute truth.  It was hard, but I'm glad I did it.  She gave me 2 meds for withdrawl symptoms - Clonidine and Hydroxyzine Pamoate.  I took them and slept all afternoon.  Now I feel spacey - it was a huge effort to get out of bed.  I don't know how I am going to operate and have a normal life like this - thank goodness it's Friday and I have the weekend without work.  Reading the other posts scare me a bit because of how long it seems to take to be over the withdrawl.  How long does it really take?  If I have to dope myself up this much to get over it, I won't be able to do anything (work, be a mom, wife ect.).

you shouldnt have to take a leave of absence.
everyones detox is different. the acute physical symptoms can last up to 7 days.
most people feel better about day 5.just take it day by day, hour by hour if you have too. try not to anticipate too much this will just cause more fear and anxiety.
take immodium for the diarrhea, motrin for the headaches.
move around as much as you can during the day. this will help.
do your normal activitys, being a wife, mom. staying busy is very important.
we have had members who have worked through their physical detox and did fine. maybe extra trips to the bathroom, or said they had a stomach virus or were coming down with the flu.

I had been taking 8 or 9 percoset each day.  Last one was yesterday afternoon.  I am shocked at how soon I am having symptoms.  Shakes, anxiety, diarrhea, headache, feeling like my skin is crawling.  I am fearful of how long it will take to get over it - am I going to have to take a leave of absence from work?  Can anyone continue through their normal lives while they go through detox?  I am thankful that it's almost bedtime - I just want to sleep and be away from this feeling.

good for you on being honest with your doctor. that took alot of courage.
the clonidine will help to regulate your blood pressure during your detox.
the hydroxyzine parmoate is a antihistamine and also used for anxiety, it can cause drowsiness. if it continues let her know and she can adjust the dosage.
when was your last dose of the percocets?
how are your symptoms?
you are on the road called recovery.
good for you.
fight the good fight
