No Appetite

No Appetite

Since I entered detox on Aug 7th thru today Ive had NO appetite. The only thing that sounds appealing to me is water. Since I want to lose some weight this is fine but I know the body goes into survival mode and stores fat for you when you dont eat b/c it thinks youre starving yourself. This is something I would never do. I love to eat!
If anything sounded good believe me, Id eat it. I am just so very thankful to have water. Been chuggin that 33 ounce bottle 3 times a day and it never leaves me side. I just wonder what its doing to my body. The thought of eating makes me wanna barf.

Try Ensure drinks until you get an appetite... those have tons of good stuff in them to get your body at least having fuel to do day to day things... you don't want to start burning muscle... that is bad..

When I was in detox in April I couldn't eat AT ALL for days.  The nurses were worried.  I couldn't even keep ice chips down.  I was dehydrated and depleted physically.  They came in one night and in the excited nurses voice told me that they had something for me...Ensure!  Let me just tell you...the second it hit my throat it came back up...out of my nose!!  LOL

One of the male nurses told me that he wasn't so concerned about my eating right now, but that I HAD to drink as much as possible.  The ONLY thing I could manage, after the three days of solid vomiting, was water.  I tried some other things, like Gatorade, but everything tasted weird and made me nauseated.  After about 8 days I found I could drink Glacieau Vitamin Water and started doing so with relish!  The stuff is amazing!  It helped so much with getting my energy back.

After about two weeks I was able to start eating again.  At that point I had lost 18 lbs.  It took a while, but I eventually got back up to my pre-detox weight and then an extra couple of lbs. and plateaued.  I guess that's good.

You'll get your appetite back...and usually it comes back with a vengance!  I wouldn't worry so much about it right this minute.  Give it a little more time and stay as hydrated as possible.

Good luck!

Im not stressing on it since I needed to lose the excess pounds that alcohol and opiates gave me so willingly. But now that Ive dropped 15 pounds...I feel better..I tried a fruit smoothie yesterday, half of a small one anyway, just to get something besides water in me but my water bottle is never far from my side. I had a few snacks last night also. And Im still losing weight so fine with me!
