No oxy's

I am sorry to write this but I didn't do very good the weekend. we did percots all weekend but We didn't do any oxy's.Still I think we both are going to have to do the methadone just not strong.Thats if we live long enough to get the damm s--t.I don't know what to say,my wife was really sick on sunday. In bed all day,and thats after doing the percs. And I mean doing 10 percs.@5/325.I love her but we need help, its gotten out of hand..I want to say her but its us we could do 20 percs.per person a day, thats alot to us.They said this morning that it could be the end of June, when we get into the program(Methadone).I think thats just to damm long.We sign-up April ?? 2010.I think if we were in the states we would already getting the help that we need. How long does it take in the U.S.A. to get on the Methadone Program?????????????

you do realize that the methadone is addicting also?  i have a friend that is trying to get off of the methadone and cannot find a way.
it seems from what everyone has been saying on here, that the simple pain killers are the easiest to come off of.

I dont know how long it takes in USA to get on it, but I know EVERYWHERE it takes a long time to get off it...sorry to see you make that choice in exchange for percs and oxys...it is a much worse beast than either of those...good luck to you and your wife!!

Dont give up.....Just keep trying to get off those pills and hopefully you wont need to do the methadone route.  Being sick is part of getting clean.  Gotta get rid of those toxins in our body.         sara

HI ...I just wanted to take a minute to encourage you to keep trying....YOU CAN DO THIS
if you put you mind to it...trust me you dont want to become a methadone addict I was one for 6 1/2yrs...methadone is no free ride it comes with a lot of not so nice side effects
its no way to go thew life...and if and when you ever want to get clean it turns withdrawals into months of misery ...right now your talking about a week or so of feeling like you got the flu with some anxiety ...no its not any fun to go thew but it is DOABLE ...you just need to put one foot in front of the other and realize for the next few days you just got to be ok without being ok for a wile...there are many here that are exactly where your at
and many here that are finely free of active addiction...we are all in this together to help one another thew the tuff spots...you need to get rid of the pills in the house there only going to tempt you to use if there around...im sure you have survived a bout of the flu
you will survive this also...go into it with a win win attitude you will be pill free once your thew it...its never to soon to look into aftercare at N/A all you need is the desire to get clean its one thing that will help you thew this...I hope you can find the strength in yourself to pull it together and do this you will be so much better off kicking this then having to come here later and try and kick methadone just dont give up...it takes a few trys for some to get it right...good luck and God bless......Gnarly

I just don't know,we are so tried of this ball in chain. We both want to go to a treatment center that has med-detox and they keep telling us that there is not one here in this Island. So i said we could both go of the island. And all we are getting is well we don't know.If I had the money I would get help but because of the pills we are major broke. So I wrote a letter(email)to the minster of hearth but didn't get anything back.On the Island they do more for grambling or drunks(can't spell) I would go to NA but I am still using but when I get help We will both go to support.I don't think its fair to the people in NA to see us right now! I am glad that you keep me in your prays.I do understand the Methadone but it looks like our only way out.I have three sisters,I have never ask them for a dime in my life. The only support we get is from ya'll people so if you think I am wining,I am I would do anything for them but they will not help me.Its sad but true. The funny thing is when you are doing good they are in our lives but when you are down and out and trying to get your head out of your ***.We are always alone, this is not the first time we have had problems with drugs,But speed, coke LSD and weed are mental addictive. We shot alot of coke, and speed in the 80's and 90's but gave it up now we are snorting oxy's,and percs for three and a half years and can't get off of it.I just don't understand.I have said this before wish i had the computer 4 years ago when the doctor put me on this demon.Crazy s--t but thats that thanks for praying for us we love this site and the poeple like ya'll

You've got it all wrong about NA, it's exactly for people in your situation.  All it takes is a desire to stop using, and nobody is their to judge you since they are all addicts themselves.  Are you in the Bahamas or something?  Don't feel so all alone, you've got your spouse to lean on for support.  She/He understands what you're going through and that helps right?

Gnarly gave u some good advice. U will feel like you have a bad case of the flu for a week then u can go to NA to learn to stay clean. You will get clean when your desire to be clean is stronger than your desire to use. You DO have a choice. Choose life!

Hey listen bud you and your girl are about the same age as me and my wife. Me and my wife were 13 year heroin addicts heavy users we came here to medhelp looking to get on a methadone program and we were doing the same as you asking qestions about it. But we talked to a few ppl and one person said why swap habits why not come of heroin c/t she had quit c/t. man that scared me and my wife but we took the bull by the horns and we tried we were so ill but never gave in my wife is now 300 pls days clean of all drgs im 2 months after i had a relapse. You dont want to be on drugs the rest of your lives have you tried to quit coz it would be easer to stop pills than methadone. I wish you the best of luck in whatever you try to do. Good luck ,,,,,,James

It is not safe for everyone to come off cold turkey.  That could result in seizures and other severe health problems.  Not everyone withdrawals the same.  Not all people just get flu symptoms.  It really depends on the person, the honest drug use, and duration and that person's body, esp. if they have any other health issues determines outcome of withdrawals.  I'm not supporting staying hooked.  You can definatly go to NA, and they may know of some resources to help you.  If nothing else go to the hospital for help, they too may know of further resources and if you go to the hospital sick it may get you into a detox center and rehab much sooner.  There is a way.  You just have to want it bad enough and look hard enough.  Suboxone is another drug that is being used to help people.  It does have opiate in it, but blocks the neurons in the brain from accepting any other opiates.  It's better than the the methadone program.  You still have to taper off of it, but from I've researched and seen in other people it is a much better route to go.  I have a friend who was totally addicted to oxy's to the point that heroine was next.  She is now on low dose suboxone.  She looks great, has a stable job, and family life and has never felt the desire to abuse the drug.

If you dont feel you can do this on your own, please keep seeking help.  And please remember you dont have to be clean to go to NA, and those people would go out of their way to help you, since they've been there before, some of them several times and lived through it.

Keep trying to get help.  Beware of the percocet.  Not only because of the opiate oxycodone in it, but the tylenol will kill your liver and is probably why your wife feels really bad.  She may have caused damage to her liver.

James you and Kim are perfect examples that it can be done. It was your desire to be clean and your choice to make it happen. We all "saw" you guys sick for days, but you didn't give up or give in. It was not easy but yall persevered and look where you are today...LAUGHING...sickofit, are you really sickofit???  Are you really ready to do what it takes to be clean?

by the way, some rehabs have grants for low income people to pay the cost of stay, but you must push for this.  They will not for sure tell you about it.  See if you qualify.  You may have to write a note of why you need the treatment so bad or something, but that shouldn't be a problem.  Dont give up.  Until you decide what to do, please control your use as much as possible.  The more you use now, the harder it will be to come off of it, but it can be done.  There are plenty of testimonials on this site that you can be clean, sober, and happy.
Bless you and your wife.  Atleast you are finally sick of it and want change!!!

have u thought about suboxone instead of methadone? In my opinion suboxone is the better med well for me and i would think for you to because the dose you are taking suboxone will take care of the withdrawals and you also cannot abuse suboxone because of the ceiling effect while you can still abuse methadone because it is a full opiate not half like suboxone you can do this tho just hang in there it will get better also im not sure if this has been said or not but you should start taking some vitamins like a good multivitamin magnesium vit c vit b6 and b12 potassium  valerian root and to help with sleep melatonin just some suggestions that have helped me and many other ppl and im sure there will be some ppl saying i am wrong about the suboxone over methadone but like i said this is just my opinion but either way you go both methadone and suboxone are still addictive drugs that you will have to come off of also and both cause withdrawals because there is no miracle pill or anything that is going to get you clean with no pain no matter which way you go or what you do eventually you will have to go thru some kind of withdrawals

Good Luck and Godspeed
