Non-Narcotic Relief----What??!!

Day 21 off of my 7 years of my Hydro/Tram/Benzo cocktails.

I think I am at 21 days.

A few days ago, I decided not to suffer with my nerve/muscle/arthritis/colitis/hernia pain. errrr I can be a little self destructive. Going back on a narcotic is not an option. My doctor was impressed that I was able to just stop cold turkey when he wanted me to wean.

A few days ago, I decided I was in too much physical pain and started researching non-narcotic pain killers. My pain doctor prescribed Lyrica about a year ago, but I wanted to stick to my Hydro/Tram/Benzo cocktail at that time. Also, when I received my venomous bite that also sliced through my hand breaking it and slicing through nerves and tendons, the hand specialist recommended Lyrica. I actually tried it a few days ago and it it awesome at just 50 MG 2 times a day. No more pain and I sleep like a baby. It acts directly on nerves by mimicking nerve fluid and calms them. The nerves control muscles, so it calms them too. It also helps with anxiety. So I guess there are non-narcotic ways to control pain. It is an expensive drug, but so was our habit. I understand that it does not work for everybody, but I certainly think it is worth a shot for some of you.

Let me know what you think. Do you think taking Lyrica is cheating? I do feel a little guilty, because when I took it my body went ahhhh. I thought it would work like a stronger aspirin, but it works much better.

Thanks Again Guys,

Jeff

50 mg and yea motrin 800 doesn't work for me either and is rough on my stomach but mobic(that's the non generic name for meloxicam) is only 15mg and doesn't bother my stomach. And if my back gets bad and really tight which it does fairly often right now cause I had spinal surgery 5 months ago two bone fusions and two screws but neway back to what u was sayin when it gets tight I also take baclofen which is a muscle relaxent and between those two I have no problems and I prefer baclofen over flexeril cause flexiril knocks me out and also skelaxin is also another good muscle relaxer to that my doc said tell ppl bout causeost docs will give u handful of samples of and it works good and is FREE;)

Hi Abritt,

I think it is great to share solutions that work for us. I will research Meloxicam, I do know that Ibuprofen does not work for me even at 800 MG. Also, I have a bad stomach so my doctor wants be to stay off of Ibuprofen.

What dose of Lyrica did you try?

Thank You,

Jeff

My non narco drug that I found to work really good for my back pain is called meloxicam I think that's how u spell it it's just the generic of mobic andbis just an NSAID like motrin or naproxen just a good bit stringer is what my doc told me and it works wonders for me so that's another one to try

I have tried lyrica before and it doesn't work for me at all but that is awesome it does for u and u found something to help ur pain that is non narcotic and no it's not cheatin and y do u feel guilty for takin it cause I'm sure u don't feel guilty for takin tylonol or motrin for a headache and whatnot. But good for u for not goin back to the narcotics cause it is easy for us to go back to them when we really are in pain cause our mind will tell us that we need the narcotics cause we r dying cause the pain is so bad even tho it isn't that bad at all.
