Norco 10/325 -v- Oxycontin 80

I have had 3 back surgeries and have been on Norco 10/325 for about two years now. I started out taking 1 Norco 3 times daily. I now have to take 2 to 3 norco up to 3 times a day for the same relief. My question is that I was just perscribed Oxycontin 80 and am supposed to take 1 every 12 hours. I have not yet taken any of the Oxy for fear that 80 maybe to much. I do have a high tolerance for the norco but am kind of nervous about taking a whole oxy 80 because I have never taken them before. My doctor seems to think it will be fine due to the fact that I have already been taking opiates for a long period of time. I just wanted to get others opinions that may have been in the same position I am in. I wanted to see if it worked for them or if it was a little much.
Thank You

Think you're in the wrong forum. Everyone here is trying to get off pain pills. If anything read the horror stories before you take Oxy

Well. You get how tolerance develops. You have not abused your opiates. OC is a step up from HC, and in your case the only thing I don't quite understand is why he wouldn't start you on a 40. You will go down the same road with it as you did with the 10/325s, so why not see if a lower dose will work as you know you'll have to up dose eventually. I would ask Dr if you can cut em, as the newer time release stay time release even if chewed or cut, but you should be 100% sure.

My doc gave me oxies after shoulder surgery. Prior to that I'd only taken vics or Norco. I personally didn't like the oxies, so back to my favorite Norco. But, others will swear by them.
