Norco 10/325 vs. Oxycontin 80 ?
What would the difference be in these pills with respect to their strength? Is one hydrocodone 10 mg. comparable to an 80 mg. oxy pill? And is one harder to quit than the other? I have heard that some people have chosen a methadone program to quit oxy's. Is methadone actually a weaker drug or is it that the clinic just has control over your doses? Just curious. Thanks everyone! I am getting quite and education here! :)

On oxy for a year and then switched to methadone Bc I was uneducated. Strongest psinkiller that exists! Was on it for 9 months and realized the severity, WD for 2 weeks.if I would have stopped cold turkey from oxy it would have only been 3 days! Get off everything!
tis is anold post...posting anew question would raw more attn to ur question...but in relaity oxy is just a tad stronger than hydro,,,not that anyone is the same nor tolerates a drug in the same way...but 10 mg of oxy is sposed equal/roughly/to 15 mgs of hydro

I am addicted to Norco 10/325's. I was taking Vicodin off and on since 1993, due to an accident. Then after that I was in some more accidents (Not my Fault) that really hurt me. Then in april 2006 I broke my right Fibula and Tibia and was in a cast for 4 month. Then in September 2006 I had my Gallbladder removed (and I don't even eat meat) I'm very health concious and take my Omega's and Multi's. As time went on my back got worse, now it feels like someone is poking electric blasts in my back and honest to God my knee's almost give out on me. I Dred Waking Up In The Mourning cause my body and mind want's to explode. #10 Valium Does Not Even Work On Me AnyLonger. I Am So ADDICTED to NORCO 10/325's. As soon as I take 2 of them and a lite beer and then, another 2 and a lite beer and then another 2 and a lilte beer, that's when I start feeling wonderful and pain free. I didn't mention everything hurts on my body and I have two torn rotator cuffs also. * CAN SOMEONE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME * I've got to detox off this Pain Killer Norco, cause " IT'S KILLING ME ". I failed to mention in my last post about being on suboxone and then receiving a narcotic drug. I questioned her on this and she told me as long as I wait 10 hours that i would not have a reaction. I trust her she is also an anestesiologist and definately nows what she is doing!
It shoulds like this info is for yourself. If so all the information you have heard is true and more. Where did you hear about 80mg oyxcontin, They are very hard to get unless you have cancer or are seeing a pain managenet Dr. you probally would not get them, They use to come in 160mg until they were causing to many deaths. The FDA took them of the market, about 2 years ago. Oxycontin is a class 2 drug and highly monitored by the DEA. They come in doses of 10,20,40,80mg, They are usually prescibed 1 tablet every 12 hours, When I was in pain management my Dr prescribed 40mg, 1 tablet every 8 hours. This is called off label prescibing and is totally legal.
Now, Norco10 is a class 3 drug and is much easier to get presribed for moderate to severe pain and will usually only control true pain for 4-6 hours. My Dr used to give me #210 every month to take for breakthrough pain. Both are very addicting drugs, Especially if you take an oycontin and chew it which causes an instant release of a large amount of a very strong narcotic into your system in a matter of minutes. Although I never tried it I knew of people who did and they acted as if they were under the influence of herion. I didnt care for that nod as they call it, But getting back to the Norco for some reason it gives some people a euphoric feeling and also a feeling of energy and excitement. If you have'nt delveloped an addiction rather than a dependance. It would be a good idea to cut down to vicodin 7.5 or lortab 7.5. Because you have no idea what kind of hell you are headed for. You will never be the same. I was lucky enough that my pain management Dr.was able to take me off all that **** after my surgury was done with the drugs called subutex for induction and suboxone for maintenace. Not all doctors have the priveledge to subscribe suboxone detox and treatment, None of the medication is cheap except the norco. I just received a drug summary from my insurance co that they have spent as of 9/2007 just under $10,000.00. Buy the end of the year it be about $12,600.00. A months worth of suboxone is $755.00. But my Dr says I need to come down slowly. But I told him I was not sure about the surgury as far as pain relief, Because I still have about 40% of the pain still there at certain times of the day or if I move a certain way, So he gave me my suboxone and a script for #90 norco. As he recorded and wrote on the script rescue medication. I have not filled them yet. I'll just take it a little easier and take it one day at a time.

Oxycodone is more powerful than Hydrocodone. Oxycontin is a sustained release form of Oxycodone and takes a long time to clear out of your body, thus probably a lot more uncomfortable to discontinue extended periods of use.

Suboxone is a newer and probably preferable treatment for addiction, but it is itself a VERY potent opioid, and eventually one will have to go through withdrawal when discontinued. It is also a prescribed medication, so doesn't carry the stigma that Methadone does.
If you've been off Norco for two weeks, you're best bet is finding a solution that doesn't include any of the mentioned substances. To answer your question though, Norco would probably be the easiest to quit from a physical standpoint.

I am actually feeling a bit better after a few weeks at the chiropractor. I was always reluctant to try them - I am not sure why - just sort of conservative about alternative medicine and insureance never used to pay for it, either. I have a compressed vertebrae and after 2 years of no treatment (except the last year on Norco) I have worked myself into this "pain pattern" in my upper back that she is trying to work at with ems and ultrasound and adjustments - I am becoming a believer in this - I feel best right after the treatments - but it only lasts a few hours. Overall, though, I think it is helping.
You should really speak to FLaddict about other alternatives she is on here everyday and is wonderful and helps alot. I know she's going to the chiropractor for back pian aswell, but I don't know her whole story. You should right a post seeking her help she's great! Yea the w/d's are unbarable! I think oxy is the strongest pain med out there well as far as I know...
That is true about meth, BUT i've heard stories of people being on H for 15 yrs and then wind up being on meth for longer...
I know you said you stopped, but if you were to look for another alterantive to quit w/out going into detox suboxone has helped many. It is a drug to substatute opiates and takes away all w/d and is used for a short time unlike meth....

I was on hydrocodone for back pain and stopped for 2 weeks now and I am trying other means of pain relief because I was using too many and w/d's were so bad it was scary. I'm just trying to educate myself because if going to the chiropractor doesn't help - I may have to stay on painkillers for a while - I may have surgery - I don't know yet. But I have heard so much about oxy's and I was curious as to how they were similar or different than the Norcos. I always thought methadone was only used to help people stop using heroin. How is it worse than heroin, then, and why do they put all those people on it who are trying to stop?
Methadone is worste than heroine DON"T GO THERE...Taking 10mg hydro isn't the same strenth, but will lead you down the road to oxy's if you keep taking them. And it depends on the person with there will power, want, mental and physical strenth on what and when there going to quit everyones diffrent...I started taking vic;s and perks here and there and then went all the way up to a 80 and a half a day and couldn't go through a day w/out doing at least a 40 oxy that didn't even get me high it just made me feel "normal"
