Norco/Lortab Detoxing

Hi, Im detoxing right now. I was taking 3 norco every 4 hours so I have a heavy habbit. Ive been taking them on and off for the past 5 years but never this much. Now because I realize I cant support the amount of my habbit I am going through terrible w/d's. My last dose was Monday morning. I can't get comfortable, really bad sweating and my stomach is a mess. My legs and back are really sore. I have no other form of drugs to take to help xcept advil. I hope this passes soon because I feel sooooo bad. I took a bath and now im a bit shaky. And it's hard to sleep. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. People say the wd's last from 2-5days. At my dosage how long do you think I will feel like this.
Thanks.

Dont beat yourself up! I was in a similar (actually exact) same situation and I did the exact same thing as you.  I went and got more pills because I couldnt stand it.  But try to look at it this way.  These pills are my key to getting off of these things.  The yare the last pills I will ever ever take and I will use them to get my life back together in a slow doable way.  It is hard because we are addicts.  In the past it has been easy for me to taper down but then when Im sown to nothing the real trouble starts.  But I have to tell myself this time will be different and you should do.  Use what you have to get your self off of them in  a less painful way.  WHatever you do, dont take them all in a matter of days or you are just prolonging the suffering.  I know you can do it.  Us addicts are stronger than we know.  i read a quote that said "Junkies may be easy to knock down, but they are never fragile.  They have souls like old leather shoes, studded with steel."
You can do this, these pills you just got are not your undoing.  They are the start of building your new life.

Don't feel bad about caving. I couldn't handle the cold turkey either.

So now try the taper. It worked for me. You'll be a little uncomfortable but nothing like the cold turkey.
First thing you do is cut your doses down to twice a day only. Make it a rule. This means you will have to wait as long as possible in the morning before taking any. Try to make it longer and  longer. And the last dose spread out as long again.
Since you have already gone a short time with none. Start your doses with 2 pills only at a time. You won't feel high or anything , just enough to take the edge off. when you get to your last pill, split it in half and you're done!
Try to go only 1 dose any day that you can.

Just keep reminding yourself, this is it, the last pills.  You'll be surprised how long you can make them last.

I tappered for 1 month and then quit. My withdrawl after was very, very mild. Also load up on amino acids when you quit and try to eat only good foods. Sugar and caffine are not your friends at this point.

Don't worry, it's going to be alright. You can do this like so many others have. I'm soing on 6 months off now. This worked for me and I was taking 9 pills a day (hydros 1000's 10mg)

Detox can be tough..but it's nothing your body cant handle when it comes down to it. You gotta try and stay mentally strong through it, but you can do it. The temptation to relapse is hard..but you CAN do it. Like the others said. Take hot baths..try and excercise as best you can...take walks..watch movies. Find what makes you comfortable. Drink alot of water and try to flush as much of the drug out as quickly as possible and try and nourish your body with good foods. If you feel like relapsing,..or feel you cant take the wd's there are people on here with kind words to support you that really can make all the difference..We are all dealing with our addictions..Good luck and be strong! - Irie

Don't beat yourself up for getting more of your Doc. Did you get enough that you can use them to do a fast taper? Relapse is common for addicts, it really helps to work on the brain, talk yourself into getting off them, a week is not that long in the scheme of life , it's like having the flu, you cannot go into it with a defeatist attitude you have to believe you can do this, you have to really want this for yourself.
Hot baths, walking and reading the Forum all really help. I kicked Norco it is doable              .I really em pulling for you, you are not alone in this you have all of us, when you feel weak post and a lot of people will come on to give you encouragement to make it another day...Please pm me if you want to talk, you obviously want to quit you are here so this is just a bump pick yourself up and give it another go,, Wishing you the best

I detoxed the cold turkey way before...I wasn't on as much, but equal to 18 Norco a day. I was addicted a long time. I went through approx. 9 days of physical hell, and then the emotional for another week. That's when (not why) I gave in again.
They say the detox lasts 1-3 weeks.
Look into Clonidine--I am, it may help.  Good luck!

Well I feel like a complete failure. I went and took money out of the bank account that I don't have and bought more pills. I feel so scared that I will not be able to kick this habbit. I like the way I feel when Im on the pills but I know that I can't keep taking them like this anymore. I don't think I can get through the wd's and I don't know what to do. Im a 29 year old woman and Im in good health otherwise. I used to be a happy go lucky person and now Im a hermit. Needless to say I feel really guilty and depressed. Partly because I still feel like hell from the wd;s and also because Im a weak person for getting more pills.
I don't know anymore. I feel so lost.

Ct off of 12 pills a day is do-able...i do not think ur life is any danger unless u r elderly or in poor health...tapering is just not an option for everyone..i would think it will be closer to a week before u feel "out of the woods" but each day should be a bit better for u..get out and walk...get something to sleep..otc if need be like melatonin...get the imodium and vitamins recommended..and keep posting

Hello,

Just wanted to let you know you are not alone. i am going through the exact same thing right now. I am detoxing from vicodin (lortab) I have been on it for a year just about and taking a minimum of 2000 mgs a day and mixing it with alcohol. It hurts really bad and sucks but life will be so much better once it is over. My last pills were taken on Monday also so we are both probably at the very same stage. I wish you all the luck and if you need someone to talk to I am here. Everyone keeps telling me hot baths and they seem to work for me so give that a try!!

I am going through it now too, I did cry a little bit and it helped. I have pills those don't help at all. A klonopin addiction is worse so screw that. Keep going. Don't take even a single pill that would be stupid to ever want to feel like this again. By going cold turkey you won't have to face it for as long so look at those benefits. Keep it up!!

It may get worst, but you can get through this.  Everything you are feeling is normal. It's amazing how everyone here has those same problems while detoxing. The body is pretty magical when it's fighting.

You should be very careful. It sounds like you stopped cold turkey on 12 pills/day?

hi kally, you can take immodium for the stomach it helps.  and if you look in the health pages here you will find the thomas recipe..it has vitaminas and aminos that help.  also hot baths with epsom salt feels sooo good.  and heating pad is great on the legs...or an electric blanket. lol  this does end and it may get worse before it gets better.  thats the price we pay for abusing our bodies that way.  just hang in there and keep posting.  if i ca help you let me know.  just send me a pm.

Nope, No weaning at all. Am I stupid or what. I was going through an insane amount of pills. So this is all my fault. My stomach is such a mess and I have a bit of a fever I think because Im hot and cold at the same time. I just feel like crying but Im not. This really sucks so bad.

Hi Kally,

You are right in the sweetspot and working through the major pain. Hang in there - it WILL pass. It may be 3-7 days before you start feeling much better. Some go longer - some shorter.  I'm off a similar amount and on day 2 - feeling much better.  I didn't sleep well the last two nights and have the same problems you mention, but it's getting much better by the minute.  At your dose (if you didn't ween off), you may get worst before you get better.

Did you ween from that amount at all?

Baths, sunshine, excersize and vitamans will really help. I w/d every month for the last year becase I would run out early and it's been far better now that I found this site and  started a vitamin plan.

Have a plan!  Reward your small successes (like the next hour!) and try and get plenty of fluids. You prob. are not hungry or feel thirsty - but water and gatorade will do you wonders.

Keep posting. Let us know how you progress.
