Norco Vicodin Addiction

I broke my ankle about a month ago and was perscribed to vicodin. Actually 10mg norcos. I have been taking 2 pills at night to ease the pain after being on my feet all day. I want to stop taking the pills and I am able to, however I am concerned about withdrawel. I'm sick of feeling tired and lazy and want to stop cold turkey, however I'm concered that after taking them for 30 days, I am going to go through withdrawel. Do you think I will have any problems if I stop today. Will I get sick? Will I go through withdrawel. I will take alieve to ease my pain starting today, but I wanted professional advice. My doctor says "ohh it won't be a problem...need a refill?" But i don't want a refill and I don't want to become physically addicted to these evil drugs. Please help. Am I at risk of going through withdrawel or physicall pain that i read online if i stop today

Wow thats weird to give you xanax to help with w/ds that you may not even have. You sound like you just may want to just take a pill. Look maybe you suffer from anxiety and thats why you are going on about this and not listening to what anyone is saying. If you have any w/ds IT WILL BE MINOR and you should NOT need the xanax. If you suffer from anxiety (which by your posts sounds like you might) then take the xanax. Be aware that xanax is very addicting and if you are worried about wds I would definitly not take xanax. the wds from that is way worse than any opiate. I find it odd that your dr gave you that anyway unless he thinks you might suffer from anxiety also. Good luck and relax. You are making things waay worse than they need to be.

I would not take xanax getting hooked on a benzo is something you do not need.  Try something herbal...You will probably not even feel anxiety if you do it's probably more from your head....To combat it if you have any exercise, go walking, do something other than sit around and think about withdrawals and getting off....

You think getting off a little bit of Norco is tough you do not want to start down the road of a benzo---Skip it...If you have anxiety just push thru it for a couple days you will do fine.

Make it happen

I have taken that much....at the end of two months two things will probably happen. You will have no withdrawals. Or you will have mild w/ds.  For instance mild diahreah....some anxiety...some mild sleeping issues. Probably last a day or two to four days at most. I hope that answers your question more specifically. And I have take norco off and on at the dose you take. (well 7.5 twice a day so a little less) Good luck and stop stressing over nothing. Even if you do feel wd's at your dose no big deal just like a little flu.

Thank you sam but that doesn't really answer my question. Do you think I'll go through withdrawel if I have been taking these pills for two months. Close to two a day. 10 mg norcos?

healthy168....read the posts above it seems you are obsessing over withdrawal we have all done this....get this done flush the pills and make the decision...Many people commented on the situation...Obsessing over it will not solve the issue.  You may have pain use the Advil or Tylenol get off why you can...

Not trying to be harsh however you can choose the slippery slope or the green pasture...

Best Wishes

It has been almost two months since I received 100 10 mg norcos from my doctor. My foot has been killing me and I have been taking them on and off. I have about 5 left and I think  i will just flush them down the toilet because of the horror stories I have heard. Do you think I am at any risk of going through withdrawel. I'm deathy afraid. I was taking about 2 a day. Yesterday I took 5 bc the pain was over bearing. Then I woke up and said I have to toss these out because i could barely open my eyes. Please help

thanks for all your support. my ankle kills and i have pills left but i am going to dump them. so we all agree that 2 norco's a day for 30 days hasn't made me physically dependant? just curious. do you know how it would take to become physically dependant. my doctor wanted to give me another 100 pills today and I asked him "are you the one that is going to pay for my rehab when i get hooked on these." These f'ing doctors can be just as dangerous as the drugs

You should be fine low dose and short time.  Nip it in the bud now.  Use advil or Tylenol for any pain.  I was very scared about what to expect most are.  You coming off this should be no problem.....As your name says healthy168 these pills can be abused easily so live your name drop em..Don't refill em just throw that bottle away...

You can do this no problemo.......

you are spot on with me today vicki.....i feel like so much of this is mental because i *know* of w/d's now.  i can't ever remember this being an issue when i had them for oral surgeries, etc.  then again i wasn't taking 10 a day.  8-(

@healthy----i think you'll be fine buddy.  i just came off a 2 week binge (not proudly) of about 10-12 norcos a day....so in comparison you have minimal if any w/d's.  jmo :)  good for u for not wanting to take any though!

Hi!!  I think you'll be just fine!  If you never knew about withdrawal you'd probably feel nothing. But,suggestion is powerful.  I'd just stop today, drink a lot of fluids, and take Motrin for aches,if you can.

If anything, you may have some difficulty sleeping. Just keep posting here and we'll help you along. Okay?
