Norco withdrawal. Mentally prepared and scared

I posted but can't find it. Was asking weather weaning or cold turkey was better , as most people on here do and they deleted my post. My question is, will I be able to function cold turkey? I have a plan, Thomas recipe, and currently had surgery, my day off is going to be Friday. I will start in the morning. My family expects a lot out of me. I do it all. My husband wants me to stop taking them, he doesn't know how much. He thinks it's mind over matter and there will b no physical symptoms. Little does he know. Verbally he is not nice. Will not help me . So I'm alone, with my kids. And he expects me to be gung- ho during withdrawals. Not! So what do I do and say? I take 10/325 about 15 a day. Down to about 11. I have everything I need. These pills are gross! I'm strong willed  and never had a problem with anything in my life till now. They took over. Scared but ready. I have about 7 days before work. Will that b enough time? Cold turkey? When will I see the light?

I found a pill. Contemplated. Took it. But wait, -10 mins later I puked. Still clean after 14 days. It grossed me out.

So I again, found a yellow pill. Contemplated. Took it. It's been 14 days . But wait- I vomited it out 10 mins later. Made me nauseated. So am I still clean.? No high.... Just made me sick. Gross. Glad I pikes it out.

Also taking benzo to sleep. Will have to taper those slowly once I get my happy back.

I haven't taken any. Tomorrow will b 14 days. I remember someone saying 15 days - this blows! Hope it is better...... Happy and sad . Strange.

yes the symptoms do change as your withdrawal progresses. what strange symptoms are you having?  are you still taking the pills? or is your taper done?

Been feeling all symptoms. Took 2 pills on day 3 and 1 on day 6. After 4 day do different w/drawals kick in? Feel better and knowing it's been a week almost and only 4. Proud. But no more. Now done, feeling better, exercising daily. Still have strange symptoms. The latter ones. Normal?

Thanks. I barely felt the goosebumps and later w/d symptoms today. Walking for 15 mins. Did taper. From alot. So I've  been sweating  and had to drive to store. Not fun. But slowly working it's way out of my system.

Sorry haven't posted on your thread yet.  You can do this though.  My husband was taking Norcos about 20-30 a day.  Worst day for him was day 4. It's worth the he ll that you are going through dude, trust me.  You're getting YOU back and YOUR LIFE back :)  Keep your head up okay! Try taking small bites of food here and there like one bite every 15-30 mins if you have to.  You have to get nourishment of some sort and shakes are great too, but sometimes don't cut it.  Keep going :)

try to take the vitamins with something. even if it is a cracker, dried cereal. drink some smoothies, milk shakes.

Still at it. Not giving up. Got up and out this am. Stomach hurts. Maybe too many vitamins not enough food.

Tapering, ran for 15 mins. Sweated bullets.  Hope this works. I'm not giving up! 1st time trying to stop. So trying to figure out what works best for me. Thank you all. Wish me luck and god bless you all in the same boat!

Do you mean L-Taurine? If so, it is pretty widely used and you should be able to find it at your local pharmacy (chain). If not, you could try a health food store such as GNC. If you can't get out to get it, you may be able to order it on-line.

Also, you may want to post in the "Pain Management" community here on MH. The members there may be able to give you some suggestions for pain relief.

I forgot....7 days would be a detox center, not a treatment center. The shortest amount of time for treatment is 28 days but the longer the better if you can. Most treatment centers do not do much in the way of detox. They are facilities that begin to show you a new way of life after the physical withdrawal. Many centers have indigent or alumni programs but you will have to do the research to find out which ones have that available.

Do you think you are now going to be able to take the meds as prescribed? Have you ever done that before? Going from 15 to 1 a day and controlling it is going to be very difficult. From experience, I was not able to do that.

I am concerned because I don't want to see you set yourself up. I know you are having problems at home and unless that has changed in the past 3 days, then you still have other issues to contend with.

If you NEED hem for pain then you need to take them. But you also have to check your motives. Are you taking them again to be "nicer"? Have you tried other otc medications?

I hope it all works out for you and you find relief.

Btw- my kids noticed something was wrong. They told there care taker- my flu made me mean.  Sad. :( ... I love then with all my heart. These pills make me nicer- more energy to be with them and kind. When will I get my normal happy back ?

Sent u a note. Only if I took as prescribed. 1 every 6 hrs. I'd b okay. Right? After full detox. Which starts again tomorrow? Are there inpatient rehabs that don't cost a trillion dollars???? Like 7 days? Not the expensive celebrity ones. Maybe that's what I need. Help.

Oh how I remember! Nothing looks as inviting and so much of a saving grace as those blue pills ( or whatever color your FACS are!).I remember being in the hospital and getting fentynl and morphine it not working. My brain did not know to use these drugs for pain anymore only getting high. I was supplementing out of my purse to actually get the pain to go away because my tolerance was so high.

Family was hard especially if they knew nothing of addiction or had not been educated. Even the ones who were shook their heads.

But the hardest thing I did was not to stop using cold turkey but to go to my legal dealer better know as my doc and tell him. There was no way I wanted to cut off my source.  I tried to kick for years. Would make it about 60-90 days. Never told anyone just had a really bad stomach flu a lot!

I don't know what kind of surgery you had but most people have pain after surgery. I like most others on this site are not going to tell you to take the meds. Only you can decide to do that.  Keep in mind your physical self (coated pain receptors) and the mental self(addict mind) are going to tell you that you NEED it no matter what is happening. You could get a hang nail and that voice is gonna tell you to use. If you trust your primary care physcisn then call him. If not go to ER.  You are not alone and they really do want to help.

I found 2 norco bottom of purse. . My husband flushed the bottle away other day. Anyhow seeing as I was taking 14 to 15 during the day.... And just sadly took 2, will I have the same withdrawals .????? Starting again later today? Not even sure 2 would do anything since I use to take so many. I'm disappointed in my self. :(

No hun, it will not effect your detox in any major way. But your clean day starts tomorrow if you choose.

Stop beating yourself up and get ready for it this time. Do you have anyone to help with the kids, etc.? If so, get them to help. You want to set yourself up for success, not failure, so anything you can do today to help you get through the next couple of days would be great.

Well I was digging in purse- found 2 norco. All that is left. I'm on day 3. So disappointed in myself. So much body aches. Taking care of kids today - alone. So I took them. Do I have to start all over? Keep in mind I use to take 14 a day. So is 2 going to be big withdrawal again? So disappointed in myself.
