OK, I'm really worried now-Sufentanil/Sufenta

I've been tapering off 40mg percocet and have been told to go and see a pain management specialist. I got back today and have a script for Sufenta. The doctor said that this drug is new. I've looked it up and all I can find is that it's 5 to 10 times stronger than Fentanil, comes in IV form and is used for presurgery. Also it all synthetic. I believe that synthetic drugs cause far more damage to the brain than any pure or semi opiate. This script is for Sufenta, 50mg #90, and I can't read the rest. Haven't filled it, I can hardly find a pharmancy to fill the percocet I had.

I don't think this is a door that I want to enter into. I got a taste of percocet withdrawals and it's miserable. (not any where close to the horror of benzos). Also, I have surgery the end of Janurary and I can only use an opiate for any presurgery and no benzos at all. So my tolerance to pain killers may increase with this drug.

I went to a pain management specialist in hopes to finding 'alternate' ways to deal with pain, But I got loaded up with powerful drugs instead. Neurontin and Cymbalta were the other two drugs given to me (they are in the trash now) they are used as anitdepressants and are now used for pain also. They are both drugs that are difficult to get off of from what I've heard. These are drugs that this entire pain clinic is giving every person that walks in the door. People that are not going to look into what they are taking.

I understand the enormous pressure that a pain specialist must have to help people in chronic pain. So I really don't know the solution. I will go else where to find help with coping with my pain.

Does anyone know about this drug "Sufentanil/Sufenta??? It sounds very scary!

Thank you,
abby
