OK Someone should be albe to help

Hello All,

OK everyone that knows who I am  I have been off Methadone for over a 100 days..(sorry I have not looked) but anyway what I need help with is as fallows
I have had Pain Problems for Years now and the doctors have told me it is Fibromyalgia and my point to this is when you are in pain for a long time , You get really tired and you just grumpy and What can a person take beside Pain Meds? Is there something out there? I can't take the pain but if I start taking Pain Meds again wont they just have to keep putting me up Higher and Higher? Sort of thing and is there a Pain Killer that is NON Addictive?

Just trying to find a way to get some Relief and not be popping Pills all the time.
And I'm sure not trying to step on anyone's toes who does take pain meds daily I understand that there are times you have to..
OK everyone thanks for reading and Sorry  I have not been online...

XOXOX Rhea

Hey thanks I have looked up most of all you have talked about and they all sound really good. The only one I know that you can't mix with a Antidepressant is Saint Johns wort. So that one I won't take but I do have one I do take so don't really need that one. And I will start taking the Htp5 and I have vit. I take I just have not been as of late so totally getting back into it.
thank so much  for being such a nice person and giving me so much info and
Keep in touch
Thanks again

lidocaine patches, Flector patches, naproxen, diclofenac. these are all anti-inflamatory medications that are non narcotic and non addictive.

i forgot to mention that another treatment that my muscle specialist doctor and neurologist mentioned was aqua therapy. it has to be a HEATED pool because the cold water can cause pain in itself. I cant tell you if it has helped me or not because the only place around me that does aqua therapy with a heated pool is too far away from my home. you can try to get a referal to a YMCA or somewhere else.

talk to your primary doctor about a referal to a neurologist or a muscle specialist and they will be able to set up a course of treatment for u.

I have been recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia also. There are a few drugs that are used to treat fibro that arent addictive or narcotic. Cymbalta, Neurontin (Gabapentin), lyrica, and Savella (check spelling lol). i have tried the cymbalta with no success, the lyrica can be quite sedating so my doctor advised me not to try that one since the rest of my medications are. i am waiting on a perscription for the Savella and have been taking the Gabapentin on a regular basis. the gabapentin does help alot with my back pain but there are lingering effects of the disease.

I have some issues with my back but the doctors tell me that a "normal" person wouldnt feel pain from the problems that i have so it MUST be fibromyalgia. i have tried physical therapy with no success. I always feel like the doctors dont care and they are unphased by the fact their patients will have to live with much pain for their entire lives. I am also a recovering opiate addict and i believe that people that had to go through severe withdrawl are more sensitive to pain after coming off the opiates. I also have depression, IBS and sleep problems. These are all issues that go along with the Fibro "syndrome". they have also found similarities in the fibro patients. most of them are female and they seem to be "caretakers" meaning that they are happier helping and taking care of people or animals. I dont know if any of this information is helpful to you but i found that interesting because it is alot like me.

I know it seems like there is nothing that can be done about your disease but you have to stay optimistic. Be an annoyance to your doctors. that is the only way that they will do anything in a timely manner. call them every day when you need something or just to get the ball rolling and see them frequently. there are so many times where i call and they say they will get back to me that day but they never do so i have to call again, and again, and again....  you will find the right treatment for you you just have to hang in there! i know what you are going through is hard and its frustrating.

Thank you Lady Rhea for your question and now we all are benefitting from these answers. I have an "addiction" question. Why don't I go to the store and buy myself vitamins? Why don't I spend the same amount I did on pills on a massage once a week? Why am I drawn to things that are  illegal, stupid, or even slightly on the edge? Ibruprophen is a big help. I need to take it when I am hurting. Anyway, I'm gonna get me some cal/mag Vitamin D and other WHOLE-istic things.  Wholely grateful, Lindsay

Rhea, reading the post by LoveJwhite and what her friend was taking focusing on increasing the ltryptophan levels... i remembered some journals i have read about it..... from worried787... i would advice everybody to read her journals cause she have some of the best info i have read here about addiction and all the issues concerning us, i give her the highest credit for this.

ok, i have looked for this journal and i gonna post the links here so that all the people with fybromialgia can read it too...and you too ; Rhea :)

The homeopathic approach worked for me with using the OTC as needed. I have always dismissed the OTC in lieu of narcotics...........but they do work (OTC)...., given the chance.

Good luck!
