OXYCONTIN WITHDRAWL

Like an idiot, I started abusing Oxycontins about four or five months ago.  First is was occasionally and maybe the last two months it became every other day or every day.  I would snort an 80mg pill all at once.  The last two weeks I tried to quit but found myself feeling so bad that I would end up using on the second day.  Now I have quit cold turkey and am on my THIRD day (yes I made it past the second day).   I thought about methadone, but I think that just creates another problem because I am still getting high.  Basically my question is how long will it take to feel normal again?  I am anxious about this and I need to be encouraged that the light at the end of the tunnel is near or at least how long will this hell last....>???

I took oxycodone and vicoprofen for about 6 weeks, oxy first then vicoprofen after surgery.  When I quit taking them a few days before returning to work I had terrible withdrawals (terrible to me anyway, prob worse if I was taking longer, but I know I don't want to go there), felt terrible for about 24 to 72 hrs after last dose.  Slight withdrawals like chills for about 7 days.  You are probably in the worst part of WD now, keep up the good work.  This is my first time to post here, but when I was WD I read here often, was good so as not to feel alone.  Thank you to all you kind people here.  Have not taken a pill in 3 weeks now.

SO MAYBE I DON'T EVEN TAKE ENOUGH OXYCONTIN TO BE TRUELY ADDICTED?  I KIND OF FIGURED THAT AN 80 mg A DAY OR EVERY OTHER DAY WASN'T A BIG DEAL, BUT THIS FEELING OF WITHDRAWL SUCKS AND I COULDN'T IMAGINE BEING MORE ADDICTED TO THIS **** THEN I ALREADY AM...

*0 mg at once is a bit...but you should be able to kick it cold turkey if u r ready....the time of day that you would snort will be the roughest for u most likely...get thru that time period each day....i was using 80 mg of hydro a day...took 4 days to feel better...but each day was better with day 1 being my worst...hang in there

Keep posting you have come to the right place! There is a light at the end of the tunnel. You are going through the hardest part of w/ds right now. There are lots of people that have more info and experience and info on oxys. I am a vicodin addict. But you are doing great so far.

Also, there are health pages on the right upper side of the screen and it is a Thomas Recipe for detox and an amino acid protocol that will help you to heal and deotx!

Best of luck and welcome to the forum! It's a great place to be a part of !
