On Methadone, Want to Detox before getting Pregnant

Hello, Im new to this forum and glad to have found it. Here is a little about my situation, Im a 33 yr old Mother of 4 and my youngest is 5. My husband and I would love to have another child before we are "too old" as 35 yrs old is thought of as "Advanced Maternal Aged" and complications are more prevalent then.  Anway during my last delivery I Broke my tail bone. I was placed on percocets and Oxys for pain and eventually became addicted I went on Methadone @ my dr.s referral and have been on now for 4 yrs at one point I was on 175 mg however I have decreased my dose and am now on 34mgs w.| no withdrawals what is the easiest way to get off without suffering wd's as we don't want our baby to suffer wd's so we want to be completely off methadone before we get pregnant or is there a low enough dose that does not precipitate wd's in the newborn. sorry if this is Too much Info I jus want to be thorough thanks.

hi and welcome to the forum....well if your coming off 175ml and your down to 34 you doing a great job getting free of the stuff count your blessings it hasn't been to bad for you the last of it is the most difficult part ...I kicked a 6 1/2 yr habit...it took 8 1/2mo
of tapering ...I used a formula given to me by a neo/natal nurse that brings babys off heroin methadone oxy ext and it worked well for me..it goes like this...10% drop in dose
every 72hrs it worked good for the most part but there where times that you have to give it a few days to let you body adjust to the lower dose b/4 dropping again let you body be the final judge in when you should lower your dose...many people get along well till they hit around 30ml thats sorta what it takes to hold you over all day....I can assure you,you can get past this just do it slowly take it down to 10ml then start going 1ml drop a week till you hit 5ml then jump off....i took it all the way down to 1ml but dont recommend it because tapering below 5 ml is miserable and my final withdrawal was no worst then tapering below 5ml ..expect a week off feeling like he11 when you stop dosing then the recovery starts...it can be slow going at first but you do heal it just takes time  it is a tuff road your going down but it is defently doable
and in the end it is so so worth it....I have 133 days clean now and it was one of the best moves I have ever made....+ you have extra incentive wanting to get prego so just take your time this is a race one by the tortus not the hare and you will be free of it b/4 you no it....good luck and God bless.....Gnarly
