On day 3 I think?

Let me start with my story I guess. I'm in the military and served in Iraq from sep 08 to apr 09, and while over there I herniated 2 diskes in my lower back, and didn't get medical attention while I was over there. Got home and had horrible back and leg pain and and was sent to physical therapy for 1 month and of course didn't do anything, was told I had 2 herniated diskes and was given vicodin 5-325's do deal with pain. 3 months later I wasn't getting pain releif and was put on vicodin 7.5-325, same thing again 2 months later and was put on vicodin 10-325. FINALLY had surgery nov. 5th and took the last of my vicodin 10-325's for post surgery pain and stopped taking meds last wed night. I was up to 6 vicodin 10-325 a day before and 3 days after surgery. Went to 4 a day and by last we'd was at 2 a day just before bed. Ran out wed and stopped cold turkey. Wasn't expecting much of a withdrawl but there's the problem! I hurt SO bad! Stomache achs, diarreah, rls, can't sleep at night, anxiety, headaches. What's the deal? How much longer? 3 nights now I haven't gotten sleep, this is day three of the pain. I'm ready for this to be over...

yeah, hand in there bud - that's how i got hooked for YEARS on super high doses (a LOT more than you, think 15-20 10/325s every day), from a bad back...   i'm on day 6 now - and i feel 100% better. mind you, i've stopped and started this whole thing for years now, so this is not my first w/d so i know what to expect - but you will get better.

i have (and still do) several herniated discs, specifically L5-S1 and they told me surgery too - but i went to a personal trainer (ex-NFL running back) and he FIXED it all with exercise. That's right, exercise. I've worked out my whole life, but when a big NFL guy works you out the RIGHT way, trust me- it worked. Wasn't any fun (hurt!) but my back and shoulder fixed. He has trained people who had back surgery also, and the point is - find someone that knows what they are doing and work out! It helps immensly, and will help you in your recovery from the pills too.   I've been there, bro - back hurting all the way down my right leg, couldnt get out of bed - had cortisone (nerve blocker) and all that... then started working out correctly..

now, of course - i kept up the pill habit even though my back felt better, which is the whole reason i'm on here... so stop while you can, you are not too late - and just hang in there

hi welcome to the forum....first THANK YOU for serving our country im sorry to here you got hurt ...I to suffer with bad disks in my back have 2 herniated in lower back and on in my neck..so I know exactly what your going threw...as for your withdrawals there not uncommon but your use was light compared to some so your withdrawals should
be light and short lived also....if your on day 3 you should be almost thew the worst of it
day 4 is ruff to but you should start improving steadily with time...hot baths help both the withdrawals as well as the bad back thing...sleeping can be ruff for a wile its usuly
the last thing to return to normal but with time it will come back also ...as fare as a time line ....it different for everyone as is the symptom that you find the worst.....for me its been the anxiety that has been my worst symptom...again your doing great if your at 3 days ...just dont use ...it will only set you back...you just got to tuff it out
for a few more days...mabe only 1 more day but then most fo the physical stuff
will be over...as for back pain  I find mine is manageable by motrin and once your off the narcotics you will probably find this out also...the pain pills actually make the pain worst rather then better...your body will do what ever it has to to get the narcotics including creating pain in your back so you will feed the addiction
right now you just got to be " ok without being ok" for a wile you will get thew this
keep posting as there are many here who will help you thew this...good luck and god bless Gnarly

Hi spart, first of all thank you for serving our land of hopes and dreams. You are at the peak of your withdrawal right now as we speak. By the 5th day you will become more better. Right now and I am no doc, but take imodium ad for a few days, and read the thomas recipe. I too am a veteran of the gulf war, herniated disc L-5, and was put on methadone, morphine and vic 10/325. Had horrible withdrawal, along with major depression as well. I always go to the health food store and buy a can of energy drinks. Just 1 can gives you enough B complex and taurine for the whole day without drinking coffee. I like the Stinger brand, and at the very beginning which you are in would help you gather some energy and keep your mind off the pills. Best wishes and stay in touch...
