Opiate Withdrawal~Mild

Let me start by saying I've done this before a few years ago and it was REALLY intense. I'm talking a week of withdrawals including, vomiting, depression, flu symptoms, shakes, insomnia, etc. This time around is mild in comparison. I took vicodin & percocet (sp) for about 5 weeks (I know not very long). I'm have mild withdrawal symptoms but they still really suck. I have to stay at work and I'm shaky, cold, restless, headache, bodyache, etc. I'm going to the store on my lunch break to get some meds to help ease some of this. I really just need support and any suggestions for easing these awful feelings. Going to the doctor is not and option and telling people is equally not an option. My life is a little different then most and I have a very big reputation to live up to. Any advice?

DeeWee.  I have a good job and a reputation to live up to as well, and I manage 10 other people that count on me daily.  But, If I can withdraw from 350mg of Oxycodone while working,  I know you can make it thru a "mild case".  Just F-ing do it!   Dont get me weong, Im no hero... on day 4 I caved.  But I bounced back and Im at work withdrawing again. You can can easily do it, trust me.  However, Im ready to quit forever - Im not sure if that is your mindset.   Reputation?  Oscar De La Hoya just went into rehab and did it publicly.  You would be suprised at how many people have addictions or know people with one.

You said above, "Going to the doctor is not and option and telling people is equally not an option. My life is a little different then most and I have a very big reputation to live up to. Any advice?"

Terminal uniqueness is a symptom of our disease and it will destroy us.  If you believe there are not famous authors, musicians, bank presidents, professional dancers, business owners, policemen, firefighters, homemakers, janitors, on and on who admit to addiction...perhaps you have much to learn about this cunning, baffling and powerful disease.

Look on the bottom of the page for Thomas recipe and try and drink lots and lots of water. You were not taking very long so your withdrawals probably will not be too bad. Not to over step boundaries but what did you mean by "my life is a little different than most and I have a very big reputation to live up to."?

You are focusing on the wrong thing.  You say nothing about wanting to stay clean.
You should be looking at why you relapsed, IF you really want to get and stay clean, and if so, what you can do to put a long-term recovery plan in place.
So, are you here just to get detox advice knowing in your heart that you'll keep using, or are you here because you want help and support to change your life. If you're just here to get help with this detox, and no plans to stop, then you are wasting our time.
Others come to this site fighting for their lives. That's what we focus on. Not helping people get over withdrawals so they can use again in the future.
