Sounds like we are!  I felt so alone at first.  I am on day 5 and suriviving; much better than my day 3 post. I am so glad I am getting off this now.  I would hate to have to go through this and take care of my baby.  I want him to have a mother who is sober and not relyiing on pills to get through the day.  Good luck....my only trouble is sleeping....and I worry I'm not gettting enough for baby.  Anyone know anything SAFE for baby that I can take to help me sleep?

I know plenty of pregnent attics pain management should give you methadone 5mg tablets. If not there the clinic will definently put you on you cannot withdrawl right know. I dont no if you can be put on suboxin. But you should check into it.

I have been talking with medical help, and have a monitor to test my baby's heart beat, he is moving normally and at this time i don't feel i need to go in,, if things were to get worse or i started having contractions or pain i wouldn't hesitate to go in... i know you are only trying to help and i thank you. but i have to do this the best way for me and so far this is it.. from what i understand if the baby is having issues because of the withdrawl i would begin to go into labor... if anything happens that seems out of the ordinary i will be in the car on the way to the hospital..

Hi; I read your comment and had a question.  I am 7 months pregnant.  Before I found out I was pregnant I taking 20 to 30 lortab a day.  Then I went down to 4 to 8 a day depending on the pain (I  Have RA)  I was getting the pills from two different doctors before but slowed this down a lot after I found out about the pregnancy.  My pain manangement doctor found out I was doing this and discharged me as a patient even though I was no longer getting it from two doctors just her.  So I had to stop cold turkey; but I think it was easier than it would have been had I not gone down to 4 to 8 a day.  I am on day 5 and can't sleep well but do get some sleep.  I went to the ER on day 3 due to pain in my stomach and they monitored the baby's heart and everything was good but I am just tired a lot, even walking to the bathroom.  Am I on the right track?

I also took vicodin while I was pregnant.  I took them for headaches, and when I finally informed my Dr., he tapered me off, but also informed me they were not as bad as I thought, because they are more pure than other non-prescribed drugs.  Also, he gave me something else to help with my headaches, and it was not that  bad. I was in a panic for the baby, and because I thought I would withdrawl, but it all worked out. Tell the Dr, for the baby's sake, and yours. You don't want that baby taken away from you just because you are afraid of what might not even happen-the baby is way more important than a couple of un-comfortable minutes with your ob/gyn!

You definately need to taper and not quit cold turkey... esp if you were taking 30 tabs per day!! Just as you go through withdrawals, so will your baby! You need to talk to an OB soon! If you don't have one, call you county health dept and ask to speak with an OB on-call.

Your baby will most likely withdrawal when it is born, but they can give the baby meds to prevent seizures- but if baby withdrawls too heavily in utero you will go into pre-term labor... so definately taper down.

I was a labor nurse for 4 years, now working in the ER... if you have any q's send me a private message.

Yes, I agree with joann1975.  Your doctor will most likley be more  understanding
than you think.  I think the doctors need to know so they can treat the baby if needed
to.  They will respect you more if you are up front and honest about it, this is a serious
situation.  Good Luck!

I also encourage you to please talk to your doctor ASAP. I know it's hard...but it has to be done. They will be more understanding than you think and it is possible depending on  your state etc... that if you baby is born showing wds from opiates/narcotics that you will be reported to Children & Family Services....that is why we are stressing you tell your doctor ASAP.
Best of luck to you!

PLZ tell your doctor asap .Going from 30 to nothing  is a not  very good idea at all .Tapering  is much safer for you and the baby .The other concern here is 30 vikes a day is a toxic about of Tylenol on your liver that already is taxed by you being pregnant.
Talk to your doctor let him know then you two can desided what is the safest way for you and your baby to get off of the meds.

I know it is scary, but you simply MUST tell your doctor, the sooner the better.  For YOUR safety, and for your baby's safety.  Most likely the doc will be more understanding than you think.  Be 100% honest.

There is an OB/GYN Nurse here, 1234betterlife who has helped numerous addicted preganant women.  I will send her a PM and alert her to your thread.  She will likely send you a private message.

Hang in there, I wish you the best.

If you were taking that much and you are that far along, w/d can cause problems!  Believe me I'm no doctor but my ex G/F has been addicted to percs and vics for over 6 years and she turned up pregnant.  So I found everything that I could read about it online.  I do know that a lot of pain mgt doctors won't even touch a pregnant woman.  Way too much liability.  I'd tell your OB you don't seem to have much choice.  You cannot W/D..
