Opiates and pregnancy

My friend 'Amy' (not her real name) just found out she's pregnant and she is 8-10 weeks, before she found out she was pregnant she was sniffing opiates, Oxycotin, perks, morphene whatever she could get her hands on basically for 5 months now . Like I said she found out she is pregnant and stopped right away abusing drugs right away .. My question is do you think those 8-10 weeks of abusing those drugs will harm the baby since its early in the pregnancy? And any advice on if sniffing pills is safer then taking them orally ? She thinks since she sniffed them it wasn't actually feeding the baby?? Any input ?

Anytime you add drugs via snorting ingesting orally our shooting them it goes to your blood stream then on too your unborn child. My advice would b to go to the Dr. be honest with them you have been dabbling in drugs for 5 months and get all the proper checks so you can insure your child is Healthy.. Life is so Precious Please put your child above your fears. Peace of mind comes when you no longer have to deal with the what if's. Honesty in this situation is imperative.. I wish you and this young soul you are carrying well. lesa
