Well, the surgery was ONLY supposed to be about an hour long, and ended up being almost 3 hours! I thought I was gonna EXPLODE!! When they got the scope inside her the gall bladder was NOT where it was supposed to be. The surgeon explained it like this...She had been experiencing this pain for at least 4 years (by the looks of it when he finally got it out). She PUSHED herself, like most women do, to continue on with her daily activities. And that's what kind of Mom she has, too. But this time pushing herself, made more problems for her. Her body had literally MOVED her gall bladder and covered it with as much fat as possible to shield her other organs from the imflammation. Good for the body, bad for the surgeon. He said she REALLY tested his abilities today, that she was the hardest removal he has EVER done. They were still able to do it all, laproscopically, it just took longer and instead of 4 punctures, she has 6.
So, he finally came out of the supposed hour long surgery after 3 hours, and explained all this to me. I had so many terrible thoughts going through my mind. She had died on the table, blood pressure dropped, they cut the central bile duct, EVERYTHING!! I WAS SO STRESSED!!
But thanks to a wonderful surgeon, great family and all the prayers from ALL of you, she is home safe and sound. If I din't do what I do for a living she would have needed to stay overnite. But he knows my medical background and put her in my hands.
I just wanted you guys to know that we are home now (only after 7 hours total in the hospital) and she is gonna be better than ever!
