Overeating

I guess no one thinks overeating is an addiction.  I have tried everything in the world with success, but short-lived.  My overweight is affecting my health and my mental stability, which is none too good anyway.  Does hypnosis help?  Please don't preach diet and exercise - i probably know more about ways to lose weight than anyone else i know.  It always comes back with a vengeance. . .i am desperate...

L- If it makes you feel any better - you are not alone.  Eating makes me feel so good and calm.  I think about food all of the time - I love it .  I am 80 pounds overweight.  I would try the hypnosis if it is reasonably priced.  Like most things, I think it will work if you use it and believe in it.  good luck to you and me - think positive thoughts at least - negativity kills you.

Dear L;

I feel for you soooooo much.  I also have a eating problem and probably also know how many calaries are in a banana to fried chicken.  I have been on a diet for about 17 yrs until now that is. I have joined the Weigh Down Workshop.  It is a biblical program to help you lose weight and you DON'T have to be religious to join or follow the principles they teach and this is not a DIET.  You just eat when you are hungry and stop when you are full.  I know what you may be thinking that that is just to easy or whatever, I tore this program apart when I first started but believe me it works.  You can check them out on their site, www.wdworkshop.com or if you have any further questions or would like an email buddy, my address is: ***@****

I pray this will be the answer you have been looking for.

Take care.

did the Overeaters Anonymous - I went for a year - it is definitely not for me - I hated every minute of it, and although I did lose weight, I was miserable, I hated the program and I hated the other people. . . .I will never go back to it.. .our church sponsors a WeighDown Workshop - I would rather have my fingernails pulled out with a pair of rusty pliers that participate in it.  Several people lost a lot of weight on the program, while many did not. . . .

Im only 15, but I overeat. Every time something goes wrong in my life I eat like theres no tomorow, I use food to cope with stress, anxiaty, and depression. I have no one to talk to about this and every where else on the internet is offering help if I have money to buy a book, or move away to some institution (Im just a kid!) so I guess Im just looking for someone to talk to. I hate looking in the mirror every morning and seeing fat thighs and a pudgy stomache. If anyone out there is reading this, please write back.

Check out a book called Do You Really Want to Eat That. It helped me deal with my constant dieting and how I felt about myself (which was mostly guilt for not looking perfect all the time). www.doyoureallywanttoeatthat.com. Great, healthy recipes also.

every night i go to bed and think,

"tomorow i will only eat healthy"

in the morning all the usual junk looks good and i put it off for another day.

15 years or so its been like this.

my next jeans will be 40" waist if im not careful,

pass the dogunuts  : )

yes food is as hard to deal with as drugs...harder actually, we need to eat to live so we have to have some every day, id like to see an addict try to controll their drug use like that ;)

Lee.. I don't know if this will help, but I have a friend who is a food addict.  She has done everything - lipo. every diet under the sun, works out every day, etc.  But the problem is, she binges.  As well, has never changed her overall diet.

So.. as I said, she's done everything except the one thing I believe she really needs to do (myself and most of her friends, btw) - she has yet to admit out loud she has a problem with food and is helpless in controlling it.

Generally speaking (I don't know your story) but her kind of eating generally has an underlying issue. Emotional eating. I believe hers is from being molested as a child - which, btw, is a very common symptom adults have (hiding under weight, so to speak) when they have not dealt with the psychological issue from the molestation.

Anyway, if any of this rings true for you - emotional eating, eating when stressed, anxious, etc. - my advice is to join O.A. as well as get into counceling.

It's all I know to tell you.  But I have witnessed a food addict firsthand, and again, know what she has done - which is everything except dealing with why she over eats.

Good luck...

Also, I agree - diets DON'T work.  It has to be a lifestyle change...  not a couple weeks here, a couple weeks there...

again, good luck.

Hynosis does work.  You can get these CD's very reasonably priced and the key is to listen at the same time every day for 21 days!!!   The key is 21 days!!!!   Again, 21 days!!!  If you miss a day or break the cycle, you must start over again.  It took me several months to get 21 straight days in row.  Sounds easy don't it?   It is not.  But if you can do it, you will loose weight.  You will love water and exercise and your subconcious will make the time for it.

I'm 16 yrs old and have an addiction to junk. Im getting to be obese but I just can't stop myself. The problem is I have a very promising career in ballet if I can just get my eating under control. I would appreciate any help. No diet tips as I know everything there is to know I just need the willpower to apply it.
